Position Summary
Rolls-Royce solutions Asia, a division of Rolls-Royce Power Systems, is seeking an experienced and driven
Senior Manager Procurement – Direct Material to lead and develop a high-performing procurement team. This role is pivotal in shaping and executing international sourcing strategies across a diverse range of
direct spend of commodities, ensuring cost efficiency, quality, and operational excellence within a global corporate environment.
This role is responsible for driving procurement excellence through strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, contract negotiations, cost optimization, and supply continuity management across a complex regional supply base supporting manufacturing, engineering, and operational requirements.
The successful candidate will lead and develop a high-performing procurement team while collaborating closely with global and regional stakeholders to ensure procurement strategies align with business objectives, operational performance, quality standards, and long-term supply chain resilience.
What You Will Be Doing
Strategic Procurement Leadership
- Develop and execute regional direct material procurement strategies aligned with business objectives and global procurement standards
- Strategize and direct the purchasing of product-related goods and services to achieve optimal cost, quality, delivery, and operational performance
- Develop alternatives and contingency plans to address sourcing challenges, supply continuity risks, and market volatility
- Participate in the development and execution of International Commodity Team strategies aligned with global and regional procurement objectives
Supplier Management & Strategic Sourcing
- Lead supplier sourcing, evaluation, qualification, and selection activities based on quality, pricing, delivery capability, compliance, and service performance
- Manage supplier negotiations including pricing, commercial terms, long-term agreements, and annual contracts
- Build and maintain strategic supplier partnerships to support long-term operational and business requirements
- Develop and maintain sourcing lists while continuously monitoring supplier performance, capabilities, and risk exposure
- Drive supplier performance improvement initiatives through structured reviews, KPI management, and corrective action programs
Procurement Operations & Business Support
- Oversee the preparation and management of purchasing award summaries, procurement documentation, sourcing reports, and commercial evaluations
- Support budgeting, forecasting, procurement planning, and expenditure management activities
- Review procurement performance data, operational metrics, and financial information to identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency improvement, and operational optimization
- Ensure procurement activities support timely project execution, manufacturing continuity, and business operational requirements across APAC
- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Finance, Quality, Logistics, and Project teams to support sourcing and procurement initiatives
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, assign, direct, and evaluate procurement team members across regional operations
- Establish team objectives, development plans, and performance expectations to support capability growth and succession planning
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance, and continuous improvement culture within the procurement function
- Support procurement transformation, process standardization, and operational excellence initiatives
Governance, Compliance & Risk Management
- Promote and maintain a strong compliance culture aligned with the Rolls-Royce Global Code of Conduct
- Ensure procurement processes comply with internal governance, regulatory requirements, and company procurement policies
- Support supplier risk assessment, mitigation planning, and business continuity initiatives
- Maintain accurate procurement records, reporting, audit readiness, and documentation standards
- Support workplace safety initiatives and contribute to maintaining a safe and professional working environment
- Perform additional projects and responsibilities as assigned
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum 9 years of experience in strategic procurement, sourcing, supplier management, or direct material purchasing within manufacturing, engineering, industrial, or related environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience managing procurement or sourcing teams within regional or international organizations
- Strong experience in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, contract management, and procurement governance
- Experience managing procurement activities involving manufacturing parts, industrial components, engineered systems, or technical materials
- Strong knowledge of supplier management, procurement planning, sourcing strategies, and supply chain operations
- Experience working within multinational and matrix corporate environments
- Strong analytical, commercial, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management capabilities with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications would be advantageous
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as business needs require
- Professional procurement certification such as MCIPS would be advantageous
- Experience within industries such as power systems, energy, industrial manufacturing, heavy equipment, engineering, aerospace, marine, automotive, or related sectors would be advantageous
- Knowledge of mtu products and off-highway diesel engine applications would be advantageous
