Senior Manager (Platforms & Automation) / IT & Services

[What you will be working on]

  • Operations Management - Oversee the operations and maintenance of enterprise IT platforms (e.g. ServiceNow or equivalent helpdesk tools, M365/Intune, security services, Azure Virtual Desktop), ensuring high availability and reliability. Proactively monitor system performance, ensure smooth day-to-day operations, and drive timely troubleshooting and resolution of incidents to minimise service disruption to Temasek Polytechnic users.
  • Technology Management - Drive the adoption, optimisation and governance of enterprise technology platforms, including M365, Government Commercial Cloud (GCC), Azure, AWS and Google Workspace. Strengthen platform reliability through automation of provisioning, testing and deployment, reducing dependency on manual processes. Enhance observability and monitoring capabilities and leverage AI and automation to continuously improve infrastructure services and user experience.
  • Application Management - Collaborate with application, infrastructure and security teams to enable efficient application delivery. Provide reusable tools, automated workflows and standardised pipelines to support development teams, while ensuring compliance with security and reliability standards.
  • Risk, Audit and Contract Management - Ensure compliance of platform solutions with organisational policies and regulatory requirements. Partner with internal security teams and auditors to address audit queries and findings. Conduct periodic risk assessments and manage risk acceptance processes within stipulated timelines. Oversee vendor performance, manage contracts, and ensure deliverables meet agreed specifications, addressing issues promptly where required.
  • Project Management - Evaluate and implement new technology capabilities aligned with organisational needs. Initiate and drive projects to enhance Temasek Polytechnic's digital workplace, defining scope, outcomes and success criteria. Manage vendor engagements, oversee solution implementation, and ensure seamless integration across end-user devices, on-premises systems and cloud platforms.
  • Team Management - Lead and develop platform, automation and vendor teams to deliver against defined service standards. Establish operational processes, monitor performance metrics, and drive continuous improvement. Support team members development through coaching, stretch opportunities and guidance in both operations and project delivery.
  • Joint IHL Representation - Represent Temasek Polytechnic in Joint IHL (Polytechnics/ITE) initiatives and collaborate on cross-institutional projects as required.
  • Organisational Collaboration and Service Delivery - Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure adherence to policies and standards for managed platforms. Take ownership of major incidents and escalations, working with relevant teams to ensure timely resolution. Investigate SLA breaches, implement corrective measures, and sustain a high level of user satisfaction. Contribute as part of the departmental management team in shaping the IT roadmap, project planning and policy coordination.

[What we are looking for]

  • Qualifications in Computer Science or a related field, with at least 10 years of relevant IT experience, including a minimum of 5 years working with Azure/AWS platforms in building automation and observability capabilities, and at least 3 years in a team management role.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Certified Cloud Native Platform Engineering - CNPA, CNPE) will be an advantage.
  • Proficient in infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform or equivalent (Infrastructure as Code).
  • Demonstrated experience in project delivery and user/stakeholder management.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to manage complex technical issues.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
