Job Description

This Role Will Be Responsible For

  • MERGERS & ACQUISITIONS (M&A)
  • review and provide necessary support to GCFO office towards endorsement of all M&A projects from securing of Mandate to negotiate to actual proposal for acquisition or participation in bids or tenders for concessions.
  • Collaborate with Group Business Development (GBD) and BUs to align project strategy and evaluations. This also include all due diligence activities across various Group Finance departments such as Group Accounting, Group Treasury and Group Tax.
  • review project valuation, assumptions for the projections and corroborate the various scenarios based on various valuation methodologies, including requisite WACC as well as FX assumptions as relevant.
  • Ensure the components and review processes are properly setup and relevant data and information captured (comprehensive financial evaluation of each proposal, enable alignment around understanding and alignments of the value of opportunity presented, relevant risks and mitigations).
  • Ensure key assumptions and risk treatments are highlighted, discussed and aligned with the Business and senior management (SMC) to ensure there is sufficient follow through as the project progresses into post integration or post acquisition phase.
  • Conduct post investment reviews (typically 2 to 3 years post acquisitions) jointly with Regions / BUs to assess gaps against the original business case assumptions and provide shared learnings to the organization.

The role will be assigned specific regions within the Group and be responsible to lead for the BUs within those regions to review and follow up for the above activities.

  • PORTFOLIO PERFORMANCE REVIEWS
  • 1. Capex and investments

For the BUs /Regions assigned, the role will be responsible for:

  • review major capex plans for each budgeting cycle and that proposals are supported by proper financial metrics such as NPV, VIR, IRR, Payback as well as Cashflow (CF) profile and VIR, for approval in the budgeting exercise as well as when the projects are put up for approval for execution thereafter. Coverage typically includes terminal expansion as well as upgrading works (above USD100m).
  • 2. Financial returns and Enterprise Value (EV)
  • review the units within the portfolio where refresh of EV are done annually, post budget exercise to align expectations of the BUs as well as other portfolio assets. The triggers for deep dives as and when required will also need a review or refresh of EVs such that differences, if any can be highlighted for discussions and resolution with GCFO as well as GCEO.
  • maintain a clear and updated database of all our BUs in terms of their financials, budgets and projections such that such evaluations can be done in an agile manner, facilitating reviews as and when needed by senior management or GCFO.
  • Collate outside in comparisons against our competitors such as other GTOs to track results and performance, providing insights to management in terms of our financial performance as well as strategic implications on a portfolio basis from risks and opportunities perspectives (e.g. emerging risk events involving geopolitical events, changes in customer arrangements and alliances). To be done quarterly and as and when there are events such as M&As announced by competitors etc.
  • OTHERS: DATA INTO KNOWLEDGE

The role will also assist the department in contributing ideas and providing guidance in the following:

  • Contribute ideas and provide guidance to team member in charge of the data platform - data warehouses as well as dashboards for, tracking, presentations, and communications for projects. (All BD projects are tracked using this platform which eventually forms the database from which actual deliverables are matched and where corporate finance services is made accessible and available to various collaborators as well as senior management.).
  • provide learnings and specialist knowledge for BD projects, in conjunction with the BD team (e.g. understanding of financial evaluations, project due diligence as well as shareholder terms and agreements) for development within the Organisation.
  • Setup and maintenance of templates and references in conjunction with GBD as relevant.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA, CFA, or CPA preferred.
  • At least 8 years of experience in corporate finance, treasury investment analysis, infrastructure finance, or investment banking.
  • Strong experience reviewing and executing capital investments; infrastructure, ports, logistics, or transportation experience is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience partnering with business units on P&L management in a multi-country or regional setup.
  • Willingness to relocate where PSA operates, when necessary

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Strong experience in investment evaluation, financial modelling and valuation skills.
  • Strong understanding of project finance, concession-based assets, and long-term infrastructure investments.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and commercial judgment.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, global, matrix organization.
