Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Regulatory & Halal Compliance

  • Lead the company's adherence to all food safety regulations stipulated by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) and other relevant authorities.
  • Oversee the strategic management of the MUIS Halal certification framework, ensuring robust compliance across all certified premises and products.
  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies, managing inspections, inquiries, and building strong, collaborative relationships.

Food Safety Management System (FSMS)

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve the FSMS, incorporating standards such as HACCP, GMP, and ISO 22000.
  • Develop and enforce comprehensive food safety policies, procedures, and quality assurance protocols for all retail formats, supply chain, e-commerce and own brand products.
  • Drive the digitalization and optimization of food safety processes, including the HALMQ system and other compliance platforms.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor a team of food safety executives and associates, overseeing their daily tasks, professional development, and performance.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment, manage work plan reviews, and build the team's technical capabilities.
  • Manage people development by imparting knowledge and ensuring the team is equipped to handle all assurance-related tasks.

Audit & Assurance Program Management

  • Oversee, plan, and improve the internal quality audit (IQA) programs for all retail formats, including Supermarkets, Hypermarkets, Finest, Cheers, and consignment counters.
  • Manage the end-to-end process for external audits (e.g., ISO 22000, ISO 9001), acting as the main liaison for certification bodies and coordinating all related meetings and follow-ups.
  • Establish and manage audit schedules, conduct risk assessments for audit planning, and ensure the continual improvement of audit processes and standards.

Stakeholder Engagement & Training

  • Serve as a key contact for Halal assurance matters, supporting the upkeep of the HALMQ system and liaising with consultants and MUIS as required.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., Products, Operations, Unity) to provide compliance support and consultation.
  • Review and establish improvements to store processes and guidelines based on gap analysis, feedback, and audit findings

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Food Science or Microbiology; must be a Certified Lead Auditor (ISO 22000/HACCP) with MUIS Halal (Foundation/Advanced) training.
  • 8–10 years in Food Safety/QA (Retail/FMCG), including 3–5 years in a managerial role leading technical teams.
  • Proven track record of managing direct inspections and relationships with SFA and MUIS.
  • Expert knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and HalMQ frameworks, including experience digitalizing FSMS and audit processes.
  • Skilled in designing Internal Quality Audit (IQA) programs and conducting gap analyses across diverse retail formats.
  • Ability to translate complex regulations into actionable steps for operations and present high-stakes reports to senior management.
