Prudential Plc issues a significant number of financial products, all of which involve an underlying exposure to investments both from the perspective of generating returns in line with policyholder expectations and matching any guarantees.

The Group Alternatives Investments within GCIO sets the framework for investment due diligence and ongoing performance monitoring of investment funds pertaining to non-public, alternative investments. Examples of such private alternative strategies include, but are not limited to, private equity, private real estate, private infrastructure, and private credit funds. The GAI team plays a pivotal role in ensuring that these investment vehicles align with Prudential's risk management standards and strategic objectives, supporting the company's broader mission to deliver sustainable value to policyholders and stakeholders.

Principal Accountabilities:

Support Performance Monitoring

  • Maintain ongoing collaboration with fund managers to collect, measure, and analyse investment data.

  • Prepare reports that provide clear insights into investment results across private equity, private credit, real estate, and infrastructure funds.

Support Enhanced Monitoring Process

  • This includes:

    • Valuation Reasonableness Checks: Apply hands-on knowledge and experience in valuing Private Credit deals.

      • Using industry standard methods to value private credit investments

      • Checking valuation reasonableness of Private Credit investments

      • Documenting rationale and maintaining valuation consistency.

    • Internal Credit Rating Assessments: Conduct internal credit assessments for private credit exposures, including:

      • Analysing borrower financials and business models and assessing industry and macroeconomic risks

      • Assigning internal ratings using established frameworks (e.g., Moody's, S&P, or proprietary models)

      • Documenting rationale and maintaining rating consistency

    • Stress Testing: Perform stress tests to evaluate emerging risks within the portfolio and assess potential impacts on investment performance.

  • Significant amount of travelling is expected to execute enhanced monitoring process

Support the Automation of Private Markets Reporting and Analysis

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of automated systems and processes to streamline data collection, analysis, and reporting for private market investments.

  • Enhance the accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency of reporting through automation and process improvement initiatives.

Core Competences Required:

  • Valuation of Private Credit deals

  • Credit ratings assessments

  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel and financial data tools

  • Solid understanding of alternative assets classes and their unique challenges in performance measurement and risk evaluation

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly to diverse audiences

  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working effectively in a dynamic environment

Education and Experience:

  • 8 years of relevant experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or a related field
