Job Description

The incumbent will play a key role in strengthening and elevating the global reputation of NUS Business School through proactive media engagement and a compelling social media presence. He/she will be responsible for building and sustaining relationships with regional and international media, while driving an integrated social media strategy that amplifies the School's Thought Leadership, research, and brand narrative across key markets.

Media Relations

  • Develop and execute a proactive media relations strategy to secure high-quality coverage in tier-1 business, education, and regional media outlets across Asia-Pacific and internationally
  • Serve as a key point of contact for journalists and editors, managing media enquiries, coordinating interviews, and facilitating access to faculty spokespeople and senior leadership
  • Identify and develop compelling story angles that position NUS Business School's research, faculty expertise, and institutional milestones for media placement
  • Build and maintain a strong network of media contacts across print, broadcast, and digital platforms, with a focus on Southeast Asian and global business media
  • Draft and edit press releases, media statements, op-eds, and talking points with accuracy, speed, and editorial quality
  • Monitor media coverage, analyse sentiment and share-of-voice, and provide regular performance reports with actionable recommendations

Social Media

  • Lead the strategic planning and day-to-day management of NUS Business School's social media channels, ensuring content is audience-specific, on-brand, and optimised for engagement
  • Develop and oversee a content calendar that integrates media coverage, thought leadership, events, and campaigns across platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram, X (Twitter), Facebook, and YouTube
  • Collaborate with internal teams — academic departments, admissions, alumni, and events — to surface stories and content opportunities that resonate with target audiences
  • Track and analyse social media performance metrics, using data-driven insights to refine content strategy and improve audience reach and engagement
  • Stay current with platform trends, algorithm changes, and emerging digital channels to keep the School's social presence relevant and competitive

Stakeholder Engagement and Brand Stewardship

  • Counsel faculty, senior leadership, and departmental teams on media and social media best practices, including spokesperson preparation and message development
  • Support the identification of co-branding and partnership opportunities that can extend the School's media and digital reach
  • Ensure consistency and integrity of the School's brand voice and messaging across all media and social media touchpoints
  • Support the planning and coordination of key School events, including the NUS Business School Commencement Ceremony, and undertake any other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
  • At least 10 years of experience in media relations, communications, or digital marketing, with demonstrated success in securing coverage in regional and international media
  • Strong existing network of media contacts across Asian and global business, education, or general news outlets
  • Deep understanding of social media platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Facebook, YouTube, and proven experience managing institutional or brand accounts
  • Excellent writing and editing skills; able to produce sharp, publication-ready copy under tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in media monitoring tools (e.g. Meltwater, Cision) and social media analytics platforms
  • Experience in the education, public sector, or professional services sector is an advantage
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills; able to work with senior academics, leadership, and external partners
  • Meticulous, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
