Overview
The Senior Manager of Communications is responsible for the creation and implementation of media engagement and outreach campaigns for The Kallang Group. This includes development of corporate and publicity messages, attending to media enquiries, managing the media and issues management.
The candidate must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and will be required to work with multiple stakeholders within and outside of the organisation to deliver on communication objectives. The candidate should also have a solid grasp of public relations tools, editorial skills (research, writing and editing skills), and the ability to develop strong media contacts and relationships. Additionally, the candidate is expected to have excellent organisational skills and possess the ability to adapt to new conditions, responsibilities, and deadlines.
Key areas of responsibilities
Thought leadership and brand reputation building
- Lead a cross-functional team to build the brand reputation building strategy for The Kallang Group.
- Evaluate and propose engagement/participation and execute across earned and paid channels, awards, speaking engagements, conferences and trade shows.
- Design and measure results and impact.
Media Planning & Relations
- Develop earned and paid engagement strategies as well as collaborations and partnerships to achieve media outreach and publicity objectives for The Kallang, The Kallang Group and related sport, entertainment, lifestyle and community events.
- Proactive and reactive media relations, including but not limited to pitching story ideas and managing media queries.
- Understand local and regional media landscape, and how The Kallang Group can collaborate with the media and/or publishers to profile The Kallang and/or The Kallang Group positively.
- Call downs to media on matters relating to The Kallang and/or The Kallang Group (e.g. story pitching, background briefings, issues management).
- Maintain a communications calendar, and proactively generate story ideas/topic angles.
- Integrate key messages into written and oral communications.
- Take the lead on development and management of media events (e.g. media conference, networking, tour, briefings) and materials (e.g., bios, media pitches, statements and advisories, fact sheets, boilerplate, press kits, conference reports)
- Pre-empt, identify and manage crisis communication including holding statements, alignment with internal stakeholders and agencies.
Budget Planning and Management
- Understand budget and billing data.
- Comply with processes for procurement, invoicing and vendor documentation.
- Maintaining accurate accounts.
Requirements
- University Degree – Public Relations, Journalism or Mass Communications.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in communications, content creation, marketing communications or related fields.
- A minimum of 3 years related or relevant industry experience.
- Extensive knowledge of the local and regional media landscape.
- Strong working relationships with media and experienced in effectively pitching stories to the media.
- Strong understanding of brand and reputation building including strategizing and executing across earned and paid channels, awards, speaking engagements, conferences and trade shows.
- Understand general principles of business and marketing, and the role of PR and communications.
- Strong understanding of social and digital media landscape.
- Strong writing, editing and oral skills in both English and Mandarin.
- Strong analytical and organisational skills.
- Strong time-management and attention to detail.
- Able to work efficiently with different internal and external stakeholders.
- Open to flexible work hours and able to work weekends.
- Prior Sports, Entertainment and/or corporate PR experience would be good
- Agency experience/ or experience partnering with Government entities
