Job Scope
The Senior Manager/Manager, Procurement (Category Management) is responsible for leading the development, implementation & delivery of category strategies to maximise value for the organisation in various Engineering Supplies category and serve as key project manager for supply chain related projects.
This role requires candidate to strategically aggregate spend across all business areas globally and adopting advanced best in class and innovative procurement strategies, leveraging on deep industry knowledge. He/she needs to effectively manage internal stakeholders for adoption of strategic procurement levers. The person is responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives focused on procurement cost savings, develop projects through detailed technical and financial negotiations, contract management, supplier relationship development and develop the systems and procurement resources to reach category management maturity. He/she must be able to work as a team member and as an individual contributor, he/she serves as the point of contact and a key player in leading and providing direction in the formulation of category strategies. The role also functions as a project manager of SAP-based software solution. The candidate needs to work well with various stakeholders to ensure smooth running of the project processes and increase adoption of the solution.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop category strategies and achieve alignment and implementation at the management levels
- Work closely with the Business Stakeholders / Operation Procurement to source for the fit-for purpose product/ services to achieve quality, service excellence, and cost optimization
- Facilitate continuous communications between Business Stakeholders / Operation Procurement to obtain inputs for suppliers, quality perceptions, business strategies, etc
- Conduct rationalization of suppliers for categories in scope, conduct negotiations with suppliers and achieve cost optimization for the category
- Monitor overall savings, rebates of all categories in scope and support of special projects or additional assignments
- Perform regular reviews of supplier performance, supply market trends, and analyse spend to enhance category strategies
- Build relationship with Business Stakeholders / Operation Procurement to develop insights of Engineering Supplies categories, identify sourcing opportunities and value-add projects; or develop related categories/sub-categories
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the software platform and serve as primary liaison with vendor, including working within SAP environment
- Collaborate with IT and Finance teams to coordinate system upgrades, troubleshoot issues, and implement enhancements for project support
Key Requirements:
- Degree in Engineering / Commerce / Supply Chain from a well-recognized Educational Institution.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive procurement experience, with 5 years of experience in Category Management in MNC environment
- Prior experience in category management and/or procurement required
- Technical background and engineering experience beneficial
- Project procurement experience preferred or management of procurement /material of more than S$100M annually
- Knowledge of supply chain processes along a complete project life cycle
- Basic understanding of SAP and ability to understand and support project processes
- Strong business acumen, problem-solving, interpersonal communication & business analytics skills
