Responsibilities:
IP Partnership Development
- Identify, approach, and qualify new Japanese IP holders as prospective licensing partners, aligned to the studio's content roadmap and commercial targets
- Build and manage a structured pipeline of IP opportunities, tracking status, deal terms, and timelines with rigour
- Represent Dynamite at industry events, tradeshows, and partner meetings in Japan and across Asia - projecting the studio as a credible and respected creative partner
Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary liaison between Dynamite and all Japanese IP partners - owning communications, expectation-setting, and relationship health on an ongoing basis
- Cultivate trust with rights holders at working and senior stakeholder levels, navigating the cultural nuances of Japanese business etiquette with confidence
- Proactively resolve partner concerns, escalations, and contractual ambiguities before they become problems
Licensing & Commercial Negotiation
- Lead or co-lead licensing negotiations, working closely with Legal to structure deal terms, royalty structures, approval workflows, exclusivity clauses, and usage rights
- Ensure all IP usage across game titles complies with licensing agreements and partner brand guidelines at all times
- Track and manage renewal timelines, royalty reporting obligations, and approval milestones across the full active IP portfolio
Internal Collaboration & Enablement
- Brief creative, product, and marketing teams on IP usage guidelines, partner sensitivities, and any restrictions on content or promotional materials
- Act as the internal subject matter expert on Japanese IP culture, licensing norms, and partner expectations
- Provide strategic input to leadership on which IPs to priorities, which deals to pursue, and emerging trends in Japanese entertainment licensing
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in IP licensing, business development, or partnership management - ideally in gaming, entertainment, publishing, or consumer products
- Solid working knowledge of IP and licensing fundamentals: deal structures, royalty mechanics, approval processes, exclusivity clauses, and rights management
- Demonstrated ability to manage B2B relationships at senior level, with a track record of both acquiring and retaining meaningful partnerships
- Strong commercial acumen - able to evaluate IP opportunities in terms of brand fit, audience appeal, and licensing economics
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills culturally sensitive and professionally polished in a high-stakes partner environment
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent partner relationships and licensing workstreams with precision
