Job Description
Job Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) works for a large-scale hospital construction project.
- Coordinate closely with M&E consultants, architects, C&S engineers, subcontractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
- Review M&E drawings, specifications, calculations, technical submissions and shop drawings.
- Coordinate M&E design development and ensure designs are practical and suitable for site implementation.
- Supervise and monitor M&E installation works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.
- Coordinate mechanical and electrical systems with architectural, structural and other specialist works.
- Monitor M&E construction progress and ensure works are completed according to the project programme.
- Coordinate with subcontractors on manpower, materials, equipment, work sequencing and site activities.
- Review method statements, risk assessments, inspection and test plans and other technical documents.
- Monitor the quality of M&E installation works and ensure proper inspection and testing are carried out.
- Identify and resolve technical, coordination and site issues affecting M&E works.
- Coordinate and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), technical queries and design changes.
- Assist in BIM coordination and clash detection activities where applicable.
- Monitor M&E materials and equipment submissions, approvals, delivery and installation.
- Coordinate testing and commissioning activities for M&E systems.
- Assist with authority inspections, submissions and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with the QA/QC team to ensure M&E works meet required quality standards.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure compliance with approved construction methods.
- Attend technical, coordination and progress meetings and follow up on outstanding M&E matters.
- Prepare progress reports and provide updates on M&E works to the Project Manager or M&E Manager.
- Assist in monitoring M&E variations, technical changes and their impact on cost and programme.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to M&E Engineers, Coordinators and site personnel.
- Support project completion, testing, commissioning, defects rectification and handover activities.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5-7 years of relevant M&E construction experience.
- Experience with large-scale building projects is preferred.
- Experience in hospital, healthcare, institutional or complex building projects will be an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services and construction practices.
- Experience in HVAC/ACMV, chilled water, plumbing, sanitary, fire protection, electrical distribution, lighting and ELV systems will be advantageous.
- Good knowledge of M&E installation, testing and commissioning requirements.
- Experience coordinating M&E consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Ability to read and interpret M&E drawings, specifications and technical documents.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit/BIM and other relevant M&E coordination software.
- Knowledge of Singapore codes, standards and statutory requirements.
- Strong project coordination, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Able to manage multiple M&E work fronts and meet project deadlines.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration or relevant certification will be an advantage.
