Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Advisory: Partner with the People team and business leaders to provide expert legal counsel on non-U.S. employment matters, with a primary focus on the APAC region (Singapore, Australia, Japan, Indonesia, and South Korea).
  • Full-Lifecycle Support: Advise on a broad spectrum of HR topics, including hiring, compensation, performance management, restructuring, terminations, worker classification, and establishing operations in new countries.
  • Dispute & Risk Management: Assess legal risks tied to workplace grievances. Manage pre-litigation claims, negotiate settlements, and direct outside counsel on active employment litigation.
  • Drafting & Compliance: Create, review, and refine critical HR documentation, such as employment contracts, NDAs, separation agreements, and employee handbooks. Handle employment-related regulatory submissions.
  • Training & Investigations: Design and deliver effective employment law training for internal stakeholders. Lead or supervise internal investigations regarding alleged workplace violations.

Requirements

  • Background & Education: A Law degree paired with 5+ years of combined experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal team (multinational company experience is highly preferred).
  • Regional Expertise: Solid working knowledge of APAC employment regulations, specifically anchored by Singapore employment law. Familiarity with Australia, South Korea, Japan, or Indonesia is a strong distinct advantage.
  • Business Acumen: A proven track record of translating complex legal requirements into practical, easily understood, and risk-based recommendations for business units.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional English proficiency, both written and verbal. Fluency in Japanese, Korean, or Bahasa Indonesia is a bonus.
  • Work Style: A highly organized, responsive, and service-oriented professional who excels at managing tight deadlines, collaborating across functions, and traveling occasionally within the APAC region.
