Job Description
The purpose of this role is to provide independent, commercially focused legal advice to a specific business unit or specialism, ensuring effective risk mitigation for the organisation. The role involves representing the company by offering legal guidance, enhancing legal principles, providing strategic solutions to management, and proactively addressing concerns, risks, and liabilities across the organisation.
Additionally, the role requires the ability to manage legal matters autonomously.
Responsibilities:
- Anticipate and identify legal issues, providing counsel to management for strategic development and solutions.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external parties, leveraging expertise to resolve legal inquiries effectively.
- Participate in implementing legal strategies to manage and mitigate risks in alignment with business objectives.
- Advise senior leaders on legal matters, assessing risks and recommending solutions within a specific business segment.
- Contribute to team results, collaborating with internal partners and leading multi-disciplinary teams.
- Develop awareness of legal risk and a risk management culture within the business.
- Maintain detailed knowledge of relevant legislation, internal policies, and procedures.
- Identify and evaluate legal risks, recommending proactive solutions to mitigate risks and limit liability.
- Manage legal projects by defining scope, delegating tasks, and ensuring successful implementation.
- Share knowledge and actively seek development opportunities while promoting diversity and inclusion principles.
Work Experience:

- Significant relevant experience.
Preferred Work Experience includes:
- Experience in litigation and employment law.
- Experience as in-house counsel.
- Experience in a full-service in-house legal environment.
- Regulatory and/or insurance sector experience.
- Some post admission experience working as a solicitor/corporate lawyer.
Qualifications:
Necessary Qualifications include:
. Tertiary Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
. Certifications as a lawyer.
