Our client is an expanding digital entertainment and content technology business operating across borders, working with international partners and stakeholders.
This is a newly created role and the company's first dedicated in-house legal hire, brought on due to growth. You'll lay the groundwork for contracting and IP governance, working closely with leadership and commercial teams to introduce practical, business-friendly legal structure in a fast-paced setting. The role is hands-on, with commercial agreements and IP/trademarks as the two main pillars.
Commercial contracting (primary): Draft, review, and negotiate a range of agreements including SaaS/technology contracts, SLAs, NDAs, referral/partner arrangements, and vendor/services agreements
IP & trademarks (critical): Manage day-to-day IP matters, including trademark portfolio work (filings, renewals, watch services), IP clauses in commercial deals, licensing and usage permissions, and coordinating enforcement actions with external counsel
Build contract templates, playbooks, and a streamlined contracting process to help teams execute faster
Manage and coordinate external counsel across relevant jurisdictions
Support additional legal/compliance needs arising from cross-border operations
Qualified lawyer with 7-12 years post-qualification experience (PQE)
Strong commercial contracting track record with confident drafting and negotiation capability
IP/trademarks experience is essential, including portfolio management and advising stakeholders on protection and permitted use
Comfortable operating as the first in-house legal hire, working independently and setting up simple, scalable processes
Advantage: experience in gaming / interactive content / digital entertainment
Bonus: cross-border exposure and experience managing multiple external counsel across jurisdictions
