Job Title: Senior Legal Counsel
Location: Singapore (Hybrid)
About The Role
We are hiring a
Senior Legal Counsel to join our APAC legal team in Singapore. Reporting to the APAC General Counsel, this is a senior-level position offering strategic legal support across BSI's Asia Pacific operations with particular focus on China.
You'll partner with senior business leaders to manage legal and regulatory risk, support complex transactions, and enable sustainable commercial success in one of BSI's most dynamic and fast-evolving markets. The role spans commercial contracts, compliance, data protection, litigation, and cross-border advisory.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic legal counsel to senior stakeholders across APAC on commercial, regulatory, competition, and governance matters
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements that balance legal risk with business needs
- Monitor and interpret evolving legal and regulatory developments in China and across the region
- Proactively assess and mitigate legal risks across business operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on strategic initiatives and market expansion
- Manage disputes, litigation, and investigations liaising with external counsel when necessary
- Foster a strong culture of compliance, ethics, and risk awareness
To Be Successful In The Role, You Will Have
- Law degree and admission to practice in China
- 812 years of legal experience gained in private practice and/or in-house, ideally with regional or international exposure
- Deep knowledge of Chinese regulatory frameworks, including data security, cybersecurity, and personal information protection laws
- Excellent contract drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
- Strong judgement, integrity, and ability to work independently
- Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and business-level English (spoken and written)
- Proactive mindset with commercial acumen and resilience under pressure
