Job Description

We are partnering with a leading institutional-backed digital infrastructure platform to appoint a Senior Legal Counsel to join its established data centre legal team.

This is a senior, business-facing role supporting the continued development and growth of a significant data centre platform across Asia Pacific. The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced team of specialist data centre counsels and advise across the full lifecycle of data centre investments, development and operations.

Given the nature of the position, we are particularly interested in lawyers with direct data centre sector experience, whether gained with a data centre developer/operator, hyperscaler or other major participant within the ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support across the development, investment and operation of data centre assets across the region.
  • Advise on a broad range of commercial and transactional matters relating to the data centre business.
  • Draft, review and negotiate data centre development, construction, procurement, services and customer-related agreements.
  • Support matters relating to land acquisition, power, utilities, connectivity and other critical infrastructure arrangements.
  • Advise on strategic partnerships, joint ventures, acquisitions and other corporate transactions relating to the platform's growth.
  • Partner closely with development, investment, commercial, operations and finance teams on new and existing projects.
  • Identify and manage legal and commercial risks throughout the lifecycle of data centre projects.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider regional legal team and manage external counsel across relevant jurisdictions.

Requirements

  • Qualified lawyer with approximately 10–15 years PQE.
  • Strong and demonstrable experience within the data centre sector.
  • Relevant backgrounds may include experience with a data centre developer, operator, hyperscaler or other major data centre customer/platform.
  • Broad transactional and commercial legal capabilities, ideally with exposure to areas such as development, construction, power, real estate, commercial contracting and/or M&A.
  • Prior in-house experience within the data centre or broader digital infrastructure sector would be particularly relevant.
  • Strong commercial judgement with the ability to provide practical and solutions-oriented advice.
  • Comfortable working directly with senior business stakeholders across multiple functions and jurisdictions.
