Senior Lab Officer

Responsibilities

• Receive biological samples from customers for NGS Sequencing
• Prepare sample extraction, sample QC, lib prep, lib QC and sequencing runs
• Optimize SOP and improve experimental skills according to experimental procedures
• Contact instrument service provider (engineer, tech-support) for repair and maintenance, to ensure the normal use of the instrument.
• Analyse sequencing data and report results to customers in a timely manner
• Assist in ensuring proper documentation of all processes including monthly report of sequencing services conducted and monthly production report.
• Assist in trouble shooting for customers
• Timely processing of special experimental needs, stabilise results and preparation of special SOP.
• Supervise and train junior staff
• Develop and implement a reasonable progression development plan in accordance with the job skills requirements of the personnel in the platform.
• Maintain lab equipment & documentation in accordance with quality requirements of ISO and CAP accreditation standards
• Other ad-hoc projects as required by the supervisors

Requirements

• Genetics, Biology or related life sciences major
• More than 3 years lab work experience
• Hands on NGS experience
• Strong molecular biology background
• Familiar with real time PCR, bioanalyzer, sequencing assays
• Good analytical skills and detail-oriented
• Rich laboratory experience and troubleshooting skills
• A committed team player who is enthusiastic and willing to learn
• Comfortable with flexible working hours and shift work
