Job Overview

As a (Senior) Consultant Digital Manufacturing for Chemical API Operations, you will lead and deliver transformative projects that modernize pharmaceutical manufacturing environments through digital solutions. Leveraging your deep understanding of manufacturing processes, particularly in Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) operations, you will design and implement strategies that drive operational excellence through digital technologies, automation, and smart data integration.

You will act as a trusted advisor to our clients, manage stakeholder relationships, and play a key role in strengthening our digital manufacturing capabilities. This role offers the opportunity to drive innovation across both GMP-regulated and development environments, and to shape the future of digital manufacturing in the pharmaceutical industry.

A particular focus of this role may include supporting the digital transformation of API manufacturing and supply value chains, making it an ideal opportunity for candidates with hands-on experience in chemical operations who are looking to apply their expertise in a consulting context, driving digitalization, enhancing performance, and optimizing processes for pharmaceutical clients.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage digital manufacturing projects in API development and production, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery
  • Act as a subject matter expert in digital manufacturing technologies (e.g., MES, PAT, SCADA, automation) across the pharmaceutical value chain
  • Assess and implement emerging technologies such as IoT, digital twins, and advanced analytics to drive process efficiency and innovation
  • Support digitalization across API workflows, including synthesis, scale-up, and tech transfer in both development and GMP environments
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to optimize manufacturing processes and translate requirements into scalable digital solutions
  • Drive system integration to enhance visibility, control, and data flow across production environments
  • Ensure compliance with GxP and regulatory requirements in all digital solutions
  • Build strong client relationships and facilitate workshops, stakeholder meetings, and technical discussions
  • Contribute to internal capability development and support business development through opportunity identification

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related field
  • Further education or certifications in digitalization, automation, or project management (e.g., PMP, Agile) are a plus
  • 3- 5 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, with a focus on API production, process operations, or digital manufacturing transformation
  • Strong understanding of API development workflows, including process scale-up, technology transfer, and batch production
  • Experience implementing or managing digital manufacturing technologies, such as MES, PAT, SCADA/DCS, or automation systems in GMP environments
  • Familiarity with system integration, connecting platforms like MES, ERP, PAT, and data historians for improved data flow and process control
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards relevant to API manufacturing (e.g., ICH Q7, Q8, Q11) and experience ensuring digital solutions meet GxP compliance
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical and operational needs into scalable digital solutions
  • Experience with data-driven process optimization, performance analytics, or process modeling
  • Familiarity with modeling tools such as AnyLogic, Python, or Aspen is an advantage, but not mandatory
  • Proficient in leading projects using traditional (Waterfall) and Agile project management methodologies
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with experience working across science, IT, QA, and business teams
  • Skilled in facilitating workshops, conducting stakeholder interviews, and delivering clear, actionable presentations
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving mindset, and a proactive, hands-on approach
  • Adaptable to changing project landscapes, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and propose structured solutions
  • Effective team player, able to thrive in multicultural, cross-functional, and remote collaboration settings

Why Arcondis

  • An opportunity to shape the future of healthcare by spearheading transformative deals
  • A collaborative and innovative work environment, where your ideas are valued, and your contributions make a significant impact
  • Flexible working environment, enabling work-life balance
  • Attractive compensation package, inclusive of performance-based incentives that reward exceptional achievements
  • Professional growth and development opportunities
