Senior Java Software Engineer

We are hiring a Senior Java Software Engineer to join a global financial services technology team supporting fixed income and derivatives trading platforms. This role focuses on building and enhancing high-performance, distributed backend systems used by front-office and middle-office users across multiple regions.

You will work in a mission-critical trading environment, contributing to system design, development, production support, and long-term platform evolution within a globally distributed team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-scale Java applications supporting trading, risk, and post-trade workflows

• Build and enhance distributed, multi-threaded systems with strong performance and stability requirements

• Contribute to production support and troubleshooting in a follow-the-sun operating model

• Work with global teams to deliver enhancements aligned with established design principles and best practices

• Participate in system design, capacity planning, and technical decision-making

• Ensure high code quality through reviews, testing, and adherence to development standards

• Collaborate closely with technology and business stakeholders across regions

Requirements:

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

• 7+ years of hands-on Java development experience in enterprise or financial systems

• Strong experience building distributed systems and backend services

• Solid understanding of:

  • Multi-threading & concurrency

  • JVM performance and tuning

• Strong SQL skills with experience using relational databases (Oracle or similar)

• Experience working in Linux/Unix environments

• Knowledge of messaging systems (e.g. MQ-based or event-driven architectures)

• Experience supporting production systems in a high-availability environment

• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills

• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in global teams

Good to have:

• Experience with capital markets, especially fixed income or derivatives
• Exposure to trading, risk management, or trade lifecycle systems
• Prior experience working with vendor trading platforms or large financial ecosystems
