Senior Java Developer (Microservices / AWS) - Banking

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer with strong expertise in full software development lifecycle (SDLC) delivery within a DevOps environment. This role requires proven experience in the banking or financial services domain.

The ideal candidate will have deep technical capabilities in Java-based technologies, microservices architecture, cloud platforms, and experience delivering systems within regulated banking environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deliver scalable enterprise applications across the full SDLC lifecycle in a DevOps model.

• Develop and maintain microservices-based applications using Spring Boot and RESTful APIs.

• Implement cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, EBS, and API Gateway.

• Work with relational databases including Oracle and MS SQL Server.

• Manage build and dependency tools such as Maven and Gradle.

• Implement CI/CD pipelines and support automated deployments within AWS DevOps environments.

• Ensure high code quality through JUnit testing, TDD practices, integration testing (WireMock), and adherence to quality gates.

• Utilize code quality and security tools such as SonarQube and HP Fortify.

• Work with messaging systems such as RabbitMQ and ActiveMQ.

• Participate actively in code reviews, pull request management, and GitHub repository maintenance.

• Contribute to deployment planning and execution using CI/CD processes.

• Actively participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, grooming sessions, and retrospectives.

• Provide technical leadership and guide a team of up to 6 members where required.

Mandatory Requirements

• 13+ years of experience in Java and J2EE application development.

• Proven experience working within the banking or financial services domain (mandatory).

• Strong hands-on experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and Hibernate.

• Experience building and deploying microservices architectures.

• Solid understanding of RESTful API development.

• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.

• Strong knowledge of relational databases such as Oracle and MS SQL Server.

• Experience with CI/CD integration and DevOps practices.

• Familiarity with secure coding standards and static code analysis tools.

• Strong understanding of TDD and automated testing methodologies.
