Digital Divisions IT Group (ITG) supports the IT needs for DSOs enterprise and R&D functions. ITG oversees the development and operations of core IT infrastructure, enterprise networks, and enterprise applications.
Senior IT Engineer (Storage and Backup)
In This Role, You Will
- Deploy, manage, monitor and optimize enterprise storage solutions (SAN, NAS, DAS) and enterprise backup and recovery solutions for a multi-platform infrastructure (virtual machines, physical servers, containers)
- Design and implement strategies to meet defined RTO/RPO requirements and support disaster recovery planning and execution
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with DSO Cyber Security policy
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve storage-related issues, providing technical support and conduct root-cause analysis
- Perform routine backup validation tasks to ensure recoverability of data
- Perform firmware and software upgrades for the storage and backup infrastructure
- Ensure monitoring and alerting mechanisms are in place
- Conduct storage capacity planning exercises and plan for future growth
- Oversee vendor and contract management (maintenance coverage, support contracts etc.)
- Maintain documentation including technical configuration, operational procedures and troubleshooting guides
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide timely incident response to ensure system reliability and service continuity
- Provide technical support and training to internal teams
Job Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science & Engineering/ Computer Science & Technology/ Electronic & Computer Engineering/ Information & Computer Engineering
- At least 5 years of experience in enterprise storage, backup, and file server administration
- Strong understanding of storage protocols (FC, iSCSI, NFS, CIFS, Object Store)
- Hands-on experience with enterprise storage platforms (Dell, HPE)
- Hands-on experience with backup and recovery technologies (Veeam, Networker)
- Proficient in Windows and/or Linux operating systems
- Hands-on experience with Windows/Linux file servers
- Familiar with container technologies (Podman, Kubernetes)
- Familiar with virtualization platforms (Nutanix, VMware, Hyper-V
- Possess scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ansible etc)
- Relevant certifications (e.g., NetApp, Dell EMC, Veeam, Microsoft, Red Hat) are desirable
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and commitment to data integrity
