Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Support the portfolio manager in the active management of a fundamental healthcare equity long/short portfolio across India and broader Asia.
- Lead bottom-up research on pharmaceutical, CDMO/API, healthcare services, and medical device companies, generating long and short ideas with clear catalysts.
- Build and maintain detailed financial models and valuations (DCF, comparables, sensitivity analysis) to inform price targets and position sizing.
- Track regulatory, policy, and clinical developments (e.g. US FDA actions, US generics pricing, domestic healthcare policy) and assess their impact on earnings and valuation.
- Leverage corporate access and industry networks, including management teams, physicians, KOLs, and regulators, to build differentiated views.
- Maintain a detailed understanding of portfolio drivers and be able to clearly articulate views, performance attribution, and risk exposures.
- Contribute thematic research (e.g. generics, specialty pharma, healthcare access) to the wider research universe.
Qualification
- Demonstrated experience in fundamental healthcare equity research covering pharmaceuticals, healthcare services, and/or medical devices.
- Proven track record of high-conviction stock calls with measurable outperformance against the benchmark.
- Strong valuation and financial modelling skills (DCF, comparables, sensitivity and scenario analysis).
- Must be able to do research independently.
- Must have a sound investment framework and the ability to translate research into actionable long/short positions.
- Must know how to risk manage and size positions according to PM level risk limits
- Established relationships with company management and institutional investors across Asia, the US, and Europe.
- At least 8 years of experience from either sell side or buyside.
- A strong investment process and framework is a must
- A medical or scientific background (e.g. MBBS, PharmD, PhD) would be a strong advantage in assessing clinical, regulatory, and pipeline risk.
- Familiarity with Bloomberg, FactSet, Reuters, and healthcare datasets (FDA, CMS, PubMed) would be advantageous.
- Must be able to work closely with PMs and contribute to the wider research universe.
