Responsible for planning, installing, managing, and administering enterprise mainframe environments including upgrades and maintenance. Provides operational support for z/OS and related subsystems while ensuring stability, performance, and integration with enterprise infrastructure platforms. Works closely with infrastructure teams to support system availability, performance tuning, disaster recovery readiness, and incident resolution within service level agreements.

What will you do

  • Plan, install, manage, and administer mainframe systems including upgrades and maintenance
  • Manage and deliver support for z/OS, DB2, IBM TWS, RACF, RMM, SDSF, SMP/E, and IODF
  • Install, upgrade, and administer IBM, CA, and BMC mainframe products
  • Manage DFSMS suite including DSS, HSM, RMM, VTL, and replication
  • Manage enterprise mainframe storage systems including disk and virtual tape
  • Perform mainframe recovery, disaster recovery preparation, troubleshooting, and configuration using LPARs
  • Develop, maintain, and improve in-house programs and utilities using COBOL and REXX
  • Support mainframe data center and network technologies including VTAM, TCP/IP, and TN3270
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams including storage, security, open systems, and network teams
  • Ensure DB2 and MQ workloads interface with applications on external platforms such as WebSphere on Linux
  • Perform performance data collection, analysis, and tuning of mainframe systems
  • Participate in incident and problem management activities related to mainframe systems
  • Diagnose and resolve system abends and abnormal operating problems using system logs and diagnostic tools
  • Perform problem diagnostics, resolution activities, and change management processes
  • Collaborate with IT teams, functional users, and vendors to support project implementations
  • Provide 24x7 on-call support for mainframe infrastructure
  • Ensure service delivery meets or exceeds defined customer SLAs

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Experience administering enterprise mainframe environments
  • Hands-on experience with z/OS system administration and subsystems
  • Experience managing mainframe storage technologies including disk and virtual tape
  • Experience with DFSMS components including DSS, HSM, and RMM
  • Knowledge of mainframe networking technologies including VTAM and TCP/IP
  • Experience with COBOL or REXX for utilities or system programs
  • Experience with mainframe recovery, troubleshooting, and LPAR configuration
  • Ability to diagnose system issues using logs and diagnostic tools
  • Experience supporting enterprise production environments with SLA commitments
  • Experience working with cross-platform integration between mainframe and distributed systems
  • Experience supporting DB2 and MQ connectivity with external platforms
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple infrastructure teams across enterprise environments
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in complex production systems
  • Ability to support operational incidents and problem management processes
  • Experience working in enterprise data center environments
  • IBM Certified System Programmer - z/OS preferred
