Senior Industrial Engineering Manager

Role Purpose

  • Lead and manage the Industrial Engineering team for developing a stable and transparent overall production processes in parallel to product development and inter-site product transfers
  • Manage the quality, speed and cost of the operational execution in new product introduction phase
  • Planning and implementation of all production facilities, tools and documents required for series production as well as to support new production technology implementation projects
  • Accompanying prototypes and pilot series and the qualification of the implemented solutions in terms of the requirements
  • Participate in Plant-to-Plant Transfers (PTP), Continuous Improvement Projects (CIP) and New Technology Implementation work packages

Role Responsibilities

Lead and manage the team of engineers of Value Stream Engineering (VSE), Process Engineering (PE), Test Engineering (TE) and Smart Tools (ST) for following deliverables of PEP (Launch), PTP, CIP and Technology Development (TD) work packages

  • Conceptual
  • Advice and support in the development of new products with regard to design for manufacturability, as well as assembly-optimized variant and process design
  • Design of the optimal total value stream in close coordination with the project team and the target location while observing the requirements - quality, cycle, costs, flexibility, etc.
  • Design of the assembly value stream and product structure with the aim of low-waste, agile variant production taking into account the lean principles: stability, flow, clock and pull
  • Creation of concepts for Assembly tools, Jigs and Fixtures
  • Creation of concepts for Production line and automation equipment
  • Develop new machines of specific process technologies and method
  • Develop new test equipment and test programs for product specific functional test
  • Realization
  • Creation, implementation and verification of low-waste production workplaces (workbenches, lines) and operating resources in cooperation with suppliers, taking into account the requirements of the target location and the project task
  • Define optimal production layouts, line balancing, and workstation design to maximize efficiency and minimize waste
  • Planning and recording of manufacturing times, providing this as the basis for product calculation
  • Creation and checking of manufacturing documents (such as work plans, assembly instructions etc.) taking into account the requirements of the target location and the project task
  • Active support of prototypes and pilot series, possibly independent execution of individual process steps
  • Work with suppliers for development of Assembly tools, Jigs and Fixtures, and Process Technology of machines and equipment
  • Develop Process control plans and Implement Product Qualification plans
  • Develop Production line functional test plans and implement
  • Fabricate and upgrade new test adaptors and set up along with new test programs
  • Produce Prototypes using 3D Printers
  • Product Start-Up
  • Support the IE Global project management in the planning and implementation of sample / prototype and pilot series orders
  • Checking and optimizing the production setup in the framework of the prototypes and pilot series in accordance with the project requirements and other applicable guidelines
  • Identification of improvement potential in product and process design and independent implementation of improvements in manufacturing flow
  • Accompanying the product start-up, proof of the reproducibility / process capability of the manufacturing process according to the requirements in TPU
  • Training of employees in the target manufacturing facility with regard to product / process knowledge as well as the legal and regulatory requirements in the context of the project
  • Setup and Qualification of Process Machines, Testers, Test Systems, Assembly tools, Jigs and Fixtures, as well as Production line and supporting equipment
  • Identify and support automation and digitalization opportunities (Smart Tools, data systems) to improve transparency and control of the value stream
  • Managerial
  • Meet set performance objectives and deliver projects on-time and in-budget
  • Review Tasks and follow-up on open, not closed or ineffective
  • Estimate, Budget, Plan, allocate resources to various project manages of PEP, CCA, CIP, Transfers and TD Work Packages
  • Audit and stress existing processes if they are still updated
  • Lead implementation of new processes and tests
  • Continuously challenge existing manufacturing concepts and introduce innovative process technologies to enhance value stream competitiveness
  • Define clear responsibilities and work scopes for direct reporting staff and for the own responsibilities and accountabilities
  • Share information with fellow peers, stakeholders and colleagues about Industrial Engineering topics regularly
  • Budget and control expenses of Department

Role Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering with Mechanical, Mechatronics or Industrial Engineering major. Master degree is preferred
  • Business fluent English (written and spoken)
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Electronic Products Manufacturing Industry, of which 5 years in a managerial capacity within a dynamic international manufacturing environment
  • Strong fundamentals in Lean Manufacturing Principles and ideally a deep understanding of manufacturing technologies for Electronics Products/ Sensors Production
  • A team player with excellent communication skills, great problem-solving attitude and a lateral thinker
  • Focus on innovation: approaching problems in a different/refreshing manner to arrive at strong and new/different decisions or solutions
  • Quality focus: Understanding the processes and requirements of work and making sure that they deliver their intended outcomes to the customer (internal and external) on a consistent basis
  • Ability to deal with conflict, to improvise and handling of unclear situations
