Our client, a leading operator within the oil & gas operations sector, is seeking a Senior HSE Specialist to join its HSE team. As a Senior HSE Specialist, you will be responsible for improving Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) performance through data analysis, trend identification, compliance monitoring, and execution of HSE initiatives. This role focuses heavily on data-driven decision-making, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Use, manipulate, and extract HSE-related data for reporting, KPI tracking, and management dashboards, ensuring timely and accurate submission to corporate stakeholders.
- Trend Analysis & Risk Identification: Analyze incident data, audit findings, and operational performance metrics to identify trends, predict potential safety risks, and support prioritization of corrective actions.
- HSE Initiatives & Execution: Develop, implement, and monitor HSE initiatives based on data insights, ensuring alignment with corporate standards and continuous improvement objectives.
- Operational Support & Compliance: Support operations in maintaining compliance with HSE management systems, corporate standards, and regulatory requirements, including periodic legal reviews.
- Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis: Lead or support investigations using methodologies such as RCA and Fishbone analysis to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
- Sustainability Reporting: Compile and manage sustainability-related KPIs (e.g. diesel usage, waste metrics) using corporate reporting systems such as Tagetik.
- Audit & Assurance Activities: Participate in and support internal and external audits (e.g. SS651, insurance audits), ensuring compliance with operational and safety standards.
- Contractor Safety Management: Evaluate contractor HSE performance and work closely with procurement, finance, and operations teams to enhance safety standards.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support safety initiatives and knowledge sharing.
- Continuous Improvement Support: Assist in risk assessments, safety case reviews, behavior-based safety programs, and tracking of corrective action closure.
Requirement:
- Degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
- At least 3 years of experience in HSE / SHEQ / process safety-related roles, preferably within the oil & gas or petrochemical industry
- Strong knowledge of process safety management (PSM) and HSE regulatory requirements
- Proven experience in data analysis, KPI reporting, and advanced Excel tools, with exposure to digital or AI-enabled analytics tools being an advantage
- Experience in incident investigation, audits, and regulatory compliance management
- Familiarity with sustainability reporting systems (e.g. Tagetik) is an advantage
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic and operational environment
