The Senior Executive, Communications & Outreach supports SPD's advocacy and inclusion efforts through disability awareness initiatives, public education campaigns, and strategic communications.

The role strengthens public understanding of disability issues, promotes inclusive mindsets, and supports SPD's positioning as a trusted thought leader in the sector.

Responsibilities

Advocacy & Public Education

  • Plan, deliver, and refine disability awareness talks and workshops for corporates, community groups, and public agencies.
  • Review and update public education material to ensure relevance and alignment with current disability discourse and best practices.
  • Conceptualise and implement public education initiatives, including the UNLABEL campaign to drive awareness, engagement, and behavioural change.
  • Facilitate community-level disability-related discussions and workgroups to encourage inclusive practices.
  • Manage the SPD Inclusion Champions, including recruitment, engagement, training, and deployment of advocates to represent SPD and the disability community.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with stakeholders across civil society, community, and corporate sectors who are aligned with disability inclusion and social change.

Communications

  • Contribute to content development and creation for digital platforms, social media, and campaign in support of organisational goals.
  • Maintain and update SPD website, and conduct basic content reviews and analytics to improve user experience and traffic.
  • Support the management and growth of SPD's LinkedIn and other relevant social media platforms, including content planning and engagement strategies.
  • Act as a brand custodian by ensuring consistency of tone, messaging, and visual identity across all communication channels, in line with corporate brand guidelines.

Administration & Other Duties

  • Manage the corporate e-mail account.
  • Monitor and track budgets related to advocacy and communications initiatives, and prepare reports.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned to support the objectives of the Communications & Outreach team and SPD.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Communications, Marketing, Media, or a related discipline, with 2 3 years of relevant working experience.
  • Experience in public education, communications, or campaigns; preferably from the social service or non-profit sector
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with familiarity in design and content creation tools such as Canva and CapCut considered an advantage.
  • Strong written and oral communication, presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Working knowledge of social media and digital content development and creation.
  • Experience in corporate communications or media relations considered an advantage.
  • Creative, organised, and able to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and aligned with SPD's mission and values.
