Job Description
The Senior Engineer, SSD Validation is responsible for SSD firmware validation and test development across enterprise, data center, and automotive products. The role develops validation strategies, automation frameworks, and test solutions to ensure product reliability, performance, and manufacturing readiness, while collaborating across teams to resolve complex firmware issues and improve test efficiency through automation, CI/CD, and AI-assisted engineering practices.
Main Responsibilities
Develop and execute SSD firmware validation plans for assigned product features and qualification areas.
Design and implement tests covering functionality, performance, reliability, quality of service, power loss protection, flash translation layer behavior, garbage collection, power management, and security features.
Build, maintain, and optimize automated test frameworks, long-duration stability tests, and CI/CD validation pipelines to support product qualification and production readiness.
Perform structured root cause analysis for firmware issues such as system hangs, drive drops, compatibility failures, and performance degradation, and collaborate with relevant teams to verify corrective actions.
Analyze validation results, identify coverage gaps, and contribute to validation methodologies, metrics, and release-readiness assessments.
Collaborate with firmware, hardware, NAND, system engineering, and quality teams to resolve technical issues and improve validation effectiveness.
Other Responsibilities
Contribute to test standards, technical documentation, knowledge sharing, and adoption of validation best practices.
Participate in product and firmware design reviews and provide validation input on testability, reliability targets, feature readiness, and qualification risks.
Support process optimization, test standardization, and continuous improvement across validation workflows.
Maintain working knowledge of relevant storage technologies and requirements, including PCIe 5.0/6.0, NVMe 2.0, Zoned Namespaces, CXL, and automotive storage.
AI Responsibilities
Integrate AI-assisted tools, large language models, and intelligent agents into validation, data analysis, automation development, and documentation activities while exercising sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.
Identify, test, and share AI-enabled improvements within the assigned scope of work to enhance validation coverage, issue detection, productivity, and knowledge management.
Qualifications
B.Sc. or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics or equivalent.
Over 3 years experience in SSD firmware validation or development experience.
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of SSD architecture and storage protocols, including NVMe, PCIe, or SATA
Proficiency in Linux environments and programming or scripting with Python, C, or Shell for automated test development.
Experience in firmware and hardware co-debugging, reliability validation, and manufacturing or mass-production test systems.
Ability to apply structured root cause analysis, quality engineering, and validation coverage methods to complex storage-system issues.
Soft Skills
Structured problem-solving and data-driven decision-making.
Clear technical communication, documentation, and presentation skills.
Effective cross-functional collaboration across geographically distributed teams.
Ability to work independently within an assigned technical scope and share knowledge with peers.
