Job Summary

As an Engineer/Senior Engineer, Software Validation & Test, youll work closely with software developers, systems engineers, and hardware teams to validate mission-critical software for semiconductor tools. You&aposll play a key role in ensuring our software works seamlessly with motion, vision, and automation systems in real-world scenarios. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for equipment control software.
  • Validate features including motion control, machine vision, state machines, safety interlocks, and equipment sequencing.
  • Perform integration testing of software with electrical, mechanical, vision, and motion subsystems.
  • Conduct manual and automated testing on development platforms and real machines, both in lab and cleanroom environments.
  • Develop and maintain automated test tools and scripts using Python, C#, or similar languages.
  • Investigate and report software defects with detailed documentation and log capture; collaborate with developers for root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Support regression testing, release validation, and field issue reproduction.
  • Maintain traceability of requirements through test coverage and results documentation.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the software testing process, tooling, and quality metrics.
  • Participate in Agile software development cycles, including sprint planning and defect triage using tools like Jira and Confluence.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in software validation, testing, or integrationpreferably in semiconductor equipment, industrial automation, or complex mechatronic systems.
  • Experience with C++, C#, Python, and Real-Time OS (e.g., QNX, RT-Linux), EtherCAT, CANOpen.
  • Experience with Motion Platforms: ACS, Galil, Beckhoff TwinCAT, NI Motion, etc., and Vision Tools: Matrox, Halcon, Cognex, OpenCV, etc.
  • Familiarity with equipment-level software testing, especially involving motion, vision, and real-time control systems.
  • Familiarity with servo tuning, trajectory control, and motion synchronization techniques.
  • Exposure to integrating software with electromechanical components, servo systems, and sensors.
  • Hands-on experience writing and executing manual and automated test cases.
  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and system-level thinking skills.
  • Exposure to test frameworks, scripting languages, and test automation tools.
  • Understanding of software development life cycles (SDLC) and Agile/Scrum processes.
  • Attention to detail, structured documentation habits, and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Experience working in lab environments with real hardware or familiarity with semiconductor industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; comfortable working in cross-functional teams in a fast-paced technology environment.
  • Experience supporting NPI (New Product Introduction) processes, including prototype and tester validation and debugging, and manufacturing readiness.
  • Passion for innovation and continuous improvement in high-performance automation systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Mandarin (for working with clients and vendors in the region).
  • Willing to travel 25% time during new product transition and customer engagement periods.
