Position Overview
The Senior Engineer, Laser Development will design and develop advanced optoelectronic devices including FP lasers, DFB lasers, EMLs, and external cavity laser modules. This role includes building test setups and characterization capabilities aligned with the company's technology roadmap and integrating them into in-house manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop semiconductor laser-based devices
- Build imaging setups for beam characterization and chip waveguide measurements
- Integrate optical systems for stable wavelength and power control
- Perform thermal, electrical, and high-frequency performance characterization and testing
- Design and lead experiments to evaluate laser diode components
- Improve correlation between measurements and simulations
- Maintain full traceability of test and sample data
- Serve as a technical lead for laser device development within optical engines
- Generate test reports with detailed analysis
- Support the lifecycle from design through high-volume manufacturing
Qualifications & Requirements
- Master's or PhD in optical engineering, physics, electrical engineering, or related field
- 3+ years of experience with lasers or semiconductor photonic devices
- Experience with simulation tools such as Lumerical or Crosslight
- Knowledge of semiconductor fabrication processes
- Proficiency in Python, Excel, JMP, Minitab, or DOE
- Experience with mask layout tools such as Klayout
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
