Senior Engineer, Application Engineering

Singapore | Full-Time | 3 5 years experience

Get to Know the Role

We're hiring an Application Engineer to serve as the primary liaison between Japanese customers and our factory. You'll handle customer claims, feedback, and inquiries; ensure quality compliance; and lead customer-facing projects. You'll work cross-functionally to support new product launches and resolve issues. Success requires a customer-first mindset, strong communication, and solid analytical and problem-solving skills.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Handle and respond to customer quality issues, feedback, inquiries.
  • Address customer inquiries, provide troubleshooting, and resolve technical issues related to product performance or integration.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into customer complaints and feedback, utilizing quality-control methodologies (8D, RCA, 5 Whys) to identify root cause and deliver effective resolutions.
  • Weekly/Monthly/F2F meeting with customers to review product performance, technical issues and project status.
  • Work with various cross-functional teams to implement CAPA to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Development, Engineering, QA, and Operations teams to jointly resolve customer challenges and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Share customer-related quality issues and feedback internally in HOES, ensuring timely and accurate communication to relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure product and process compliance to customer requirement with involvement in PCN and internal product specification approval.
  • Managing customer audits, ensuring compliance with quality standards and addressing audit findings with improvement actions.
  • Routine monitoring and analyzing product performance data, and process metrics using statistical methods to identify potential issues then react before quality excursion.
  • Plan and execute DOE to systematically collect and analyze data, leading to the identification and implementation of technical solutions that optimized processes and enhanced performance.

Other Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Development, Engineering, QA and QC during NPI phases to define quality control plans and criteria.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) to proactively identify potential risks and implement preventive measures during product and process development.

Skills and Competencies Profile

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering field
  • 35 years of experience as a customer quality engineer, preferably in semiconductor or advanced manufacturing settings.
  • Professional proficiency in Japanese language for technical communication (JLPT N2 / N3 certification is an added advantage)

Technical Skills:

  • Relevant experience with root cause analysis tools (5 Why, Fishbone diagram, 8D, etc).
  • Good knowledge of statistical analysis. Preferable with experience of using data analysis related tools (Excel, JMP, Minitab, etc).
