ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a motivated individual to fill the position of Senior Research Engineer in the Integrated Composite Processing Section. This position requires the applicant to hands on and conduct experiments and tests in rapid fibre-reinforced composites forming and moulding technology, design and characterization of composite structures. The engineer is required to support both industry and R&D projects where process innovation, structural testing and material characterizations are needed. Experience in project management, and patent applications will be advantageous. Basic knowledge of composite mechanics, CAD design, finite-element analysis and AI algorithm utiliaztion is required.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Research on rapid fibre reinforced thermoplastic composites in multiple matrix systems.
• Working with a team of scientists and engineers to enhance the capability of compression moulding technology.
• Working on out-of-autoclave, vaccum bagging, resin infusion, aerospace grade composites.
• Understand the rapid manufacturing and prototyping with problem solving skills to complex engineering problems in the area.
• Familiar with CAD and CAE tools, SolidWorks, etc.
• Knowledge of a wide range of forming technologies of metal, composites, and polymer materials
• Conduct mechanical tests, testing tool/jig design and material characterizations, including tensile, compressive, shearing, and advanced composite tests such as DCB, CAI, etc.
• Develop and test innovative solutions to optimize composite compression moulding process technologies.
• Prepare project progress update presentation for customers.
• Prepare research project presentations, and reports, conduct R&D experiments and file technology disclosures.
• Support in the process equipment set-up, laboratory operations, and inventory management for export control items.
• Keep a good record of production work orders, laboratory data, methods, results, drawings, etc.
• Able to perform well in both industry-type and research-type projects.

JOB REQUIREMENT

• Master or Bachelor in Aerospace/ Mechanical/ Material Science Engineering, etc.
• Having 2-3 year or more relevant working experience on composite fabrication.
• Experienced with composite moulding machine operations and process troubleshooting
