Senior Director, R&D Operational Excellence & Partnership

Combines strategic partner governance with benchmark-driven delivery intelligence, translating KPI insights and productivity data into actionable steering decisions across the R&D organization driving measurable productivity gains.

Your role

Key responsibilities in your new role

• Own and continuously enhance the partner governance framework across the R&D ecosystem, including operating models, engagement cadences, decision-making forums, performance metrics, and escalation mechanisms to drive operational excellence.
• Serve as the senior point of contact for key internal and external partners, ensuring alignment on strategic priorities, deliverables, interdependencies, resource commitments, execution timelines, and capacity planning.
• Lead Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews (MBRs/QBRs) and governance forums, driving performance transparency, accountability, action closure, and continuous improvement across the partner ecosystem.
• Define, implement, and monitor SLAs, OLAs, partner scorecards, and benchmark-driven performance frameworks to measure and improve productivity, cycle time, cost, quality, and milestone predictability across R&D delivery.
• Establish and govern KPI definitions, data standards, reporting processes, and predictive planning dashboards to provide a single source of truth, identify emerging risks, and enable timely corrective actions.
• Drive executive decision-making through actionable performance insights and recommendations, supporting trade-offs across scope, priorities, resourcing, investments, and partner allocation.
• Lead cross-functional operational excellence and productivity initiatives spanning processes, methodologies, tooling, automation, and standardisation, delivering measurable business impact and improved delivery effectiveness.
• Partner with CoC Heads and Finance on budget, headcount, and capacity planning, while proactively managing delivery, quality, compliance, dependency, and ecosystem risks through structured governance and escalation management.
• Champion continuous improvement of the data and tooling landscape, including business intelligence, reporting automation, data pipelines, and common taxonomies, while building high-performing analytics and operations capabilities to support fact-based decision-making.

• Executive-level stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build alignment and drive outcomes across complex, global matrix organisations.
• Strong partnership leadership capabilities, able to operate effectively at both the strategic relationship level and the hands-on analytical level.
• Proven ability to translate ambiguity into structured operating models, actionable plans, and measurable business outcomes.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a data-driven approach to prioritisation, risk management, and performance improvement.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, concise executive updates, recommendations, escalations, and trade-off analyses.
• High degree of business acumen, analytical rigour, and the ability to transform complex data into actionable insights and strategic decisions.
• Fluent English with strong business communication skills, both written and verbal
• Additional language capabilities are advantageous and may be beneficial depending on the geographic scope of the partner ecosystem.
