Senior Director

Responsibilities:

• Expand the R&D initiatives in Asia Pacific region and strengthen its organizational structure.
• Actively leveraging industry-academia collaboration to cultivate core technologies and advance projects through co-creation with customers.
• Strengthen the collaboration with the Japan team/rest of global Laboratories team.
• Support the commercialization of developed technologies.
• Acquire researchers and engineers necessary for advancing Projects and manage multiple members.
• Communicate well with headquarters R&D in Japan to understand its strategy and policy.

Requirements:

• Ph.D in Data Engineering or Information Management.
• More than 10 years of working experience in R&D at a multinational company.
• Preferred received awards in the academic field.
• Achievements in promoting industry-academia collaboration.
• Experience in managing teams of approximately 10 members.
• Knowledge of Generative AI technology for multimedia data.
• Strong R&D experience in corporate and commercial matters related to the IT industry.
• Experience in working with a diverse, geographically remote team.
• Must be able to control budget.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication skills and ability to interact with all levels.
• Strong presentation skills and ability to write professionally in both English and Japanese.
• Proficiency in the Japanese language (JLPT N1) to liaise with NEC's headquarters in Japan.
