Manulife Global High-Net-Worth (GHNW) is one of the strategic focus areas for growth within Manulife, a global leader in the High-Net-Worth individual life insurance market. The role reports to the Chief Distribution Officer, Global HNW Distribution and is a key member of the sales and distribution leadership team.
This individual should have familiarity with life insurance products and an excellent understanding of the High-Net-Worth International Life Insurance market and marketing concepts. The individual should have the ability to identify, develop and promote sales opportunities supported by marketing and educational material in addition to building strong relationships with GHNW Distributors and internal support teams all to generate growth for GHNW.
Position Responsibilities
Leadership and Governance
- Ensure regulatory, company and business guidelines and standards are maintained and adhered to.
- Provide leadership and support to direct reports, GHNW distribution team members, and the broader team.
- Identify opportunities for team development with a focus on developing the best-in-class Business Development team and Support Proposition in the local market.
- Represent GHNW within the company as required, taking the role of a HNW segment expert.
Partnership and distribution management
- Motivate Distributors to promote GHNW solutions with persuasive virtual and in-person presentations, developing and designing initiatives and providing first in class responsiveness to inquiries.
- Work with Distributors to identify opportunities and business potential for distributor growth, ensuring retention (distributors and policies), as well as address and resolve issues that may cover a range of topics and could involve Underwriting, Product, New business, Policy Servicing, and other functions within the company.
- Effectively position Manulife GHNW products within the landscape of direct competitors (and the overall competitive landscape), and run supporting illustrations as required along with developing compelling arguments for Manulife as the right choice.
- Provide training and education to Distributors on Manulife GHNW products, underwriting and processes and overall value proposition.
Internal and GHNW support.
- Be consistently proactive with key internal and external personnel to build, enhance, and manage relationships.
- Provide distribution support to the Chief Distribution Officer, Global HNW Distribution and other senior leaders (local and global) as required.
- With a continuous improvement mindset, work closely with internal departments (Product, Marketing, Underwriting, Legal, Case Management, Titles, Service, Compliance) to further deliver sales and marketing initiatives while also observing how GHNW can advance and improve operational processes and procedures as a market leader.
- Be a key, reliable and trusted resource as well as a Manulife brand ambassador to all contracted Distributors including their sales support staff, sales consultants, and senior management.
Success Of The Above Will Be Measured By
- Maintaining a strong relationship with appropriate regulators, adherence with the regulatory requirements of the jurisdiction avoiding any breaches.
- Development and retention of staff (direct reports and indirect associates) with strong employee engagement scores and an overall willingness to go above and beyond to support development objectives.
- Increasing the sales volume for the jurisdiction and greater GHNW in order to meet the specified objectives.
- Creating innovative and compelling marketing and sales material that help to engage distributors and their sources of business regarding the strengths of the Manulife GHNW proposition.
- Strong partnerships established and developed with distributors leading to high engagement and loyalty, with advocacy.
- Excellent engagement with internal partners within the broader Manulife organisation in order to achieve the desired objectives in a cohesive and supportive manner.
Required Qualifications
- Fulltime residency in Singapore required
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) required
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the Financial Services industry across Asia; prior High Net Worth (HNW) insurance experience is a strong advantage
- Demonstrated record of integrity, ethical judgment, and professional excellence
- Advanced life insurance knowledge, including sophisticated case design and illustration techniques, with a strong ability to identify and capitalize on sales opportunities
- Exceptional presentation, writing, listening, and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and partners
- Strong relationshipbuilding skills with the ability to independently develop, manage, and sustain external distributor relationships while collaborating effectively within a team environment
- High level of creativity and strategic thinking in developing clientcentric solutions
- Ability to work flexible hours to effectively engage with distributors and internal stakeholders across multiple global time zones
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally and domestically up to three times per year or more, as required
- Strong technical proficiency, including virtual presentation tools (e.g., webinars) and the full Microsoft Office suite
