Role Description

As a senior member of the product development team, the Senior Design Engineer will drive mechanical design efforts from concept through to production. This includes enclosure design, material selection, design-for-manufacture, and validation. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure product performance, reliability, and compliance.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related discipline.
• 58 years of experience in mechanical product development, preferably in embedded systems or consumer electronics.
• Demonstrated experience taking at least one product from concept to market; ideally two or more.
• Experience developing manufacturing documentation and working with external vendors.
• Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) and mechanical simulation tools.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and lead mechanical efforts with minimal oversight.
• Strong communication and project management skills.
• Strong expertise in plastic part design, injection molding, and DFM principles.
• Experience in the optics or related industries.

• Experience in regulated environments.
• Experience in a startup or fast-paced product development environment.
• Experience handling optical systems or sensor integration.
• Experience in environmental testing standards and reliability engineering.
