- We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our dynamic team responsible for managing and scaling our Petabyte-level data platform. In this role, we are looking for a forward-thinking engineer who doesn't just build traditional pipelines but actively integrates Artificial Intelligence (AI) and LLM-driven automation into the data engineering lifecycle.
- As a key member of our team, you will leverage AI-augmented tools to design robust ETL pipelines, automate metadata management, and optimize system performance. The ideal candidate is an expert in dbt and big data technologies, with a proven track record of using AI-assisted development (AI coding assistants, automated agents, etc.) to dramatically increase engineering velocity and platform reliability.
Responsibilities
- AI-Augmented Data Development
- AI-Driven Coding: Utilize AI programming assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor) and LLM-based agents to accelerate the development of high-quality ETL code, complex SQL queries, and dbt models.
- Automated Documentation: Implement AI-driven workflows to automatically generate and maintain data dictionaries, schema documentation, and lineage analysis for our PB-scale data assets.
- Intelligent Pipeline Automation & Ops
- AIOps & Observability: Build and maintain AI-powered monitoring systems for anomaly detection, automated alerting, and intelligent Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of pipeline failures.
- Self-Healing Data Flows: Explore and implement self-healing mechanisms that can automatically identify and rectify commxon data skews or formatting issues without manual intervention.
- Smart Performance & Cost Optimization
- AI-Assisted Tuning: Leverage AI diagnostic tools to identify redundant computations and inefficient queries, implementing intelligent recommendations to optimize SQL performance and reduce cloud costs.
- Predictive Resource Scaling: Develop predictive models to forecast workload demands and dynamically adjust resource allocation across the data platform.
- Innovation & Team Advocacy
- Stay at the forefront of AI for Data Engineering trends, evaluating and integrating emerging tools into our existing data stack.
- Champion AI-native development standards and best practices within the organization to foster a high-efficiency engineering culture.
Requirements
- Core Experience: Minimum of 5 years in data engineering, with extensive experience managing production environments at Petabyte scale.
- AI Tooling Proficiency: Demonstrated experience in leveraging AI tools for development, automation, or system maintenance with measurable improvements in productivity.
- Technical Mastery: Proficiency in Python (critical for AI integration), Java, or Scala. Expertise in SQL and dbt for efficient data modeling and transformation.
- Big Data Stack: Deep experience with technologies such as Spark, Flink, or BigQuery.
- Engineering Excellence: Strong background in DataOps and CI/CD, with the ability to weave AI-driven steps into the deployment lifecycle.
- Analytical Mindset: Proven ability to conduct deep-dive root cause analysis and drive data-driven decision-making.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively across global teams; fluency in English and Mandarin is preferred.
