Responsibilities:
- Advise on data engineering strategy, architecture, and implementation.
- Translate business data needs into technical specifications and scalable solutions.
- Design and build data pipelines for ingestion, cleaning, and harmonization.
- Implement secure, cloud-based data infrastructure and access controls.
- Optimize ETL processes, databases, and pipelines for performance and reliability.
- Develop reusable data models and maintain data catalogs with metadata and lineage.
- Enforce data governance, quality, and security standards.
- Lead end-to-end implementations and standardize solution approaches.
- Promote modern engineering and data practices across agencies.
- Enjoys solving complex data and infrastructure problems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or related field.
- 10+ years in data engineering, cloud, or platform engineering.
- Strong system design, data modeling, and algorithm knowledge.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), distributed systems (Spark, Hadoop), and Databricks.
- Proficient in Python, Java, Scala, SQL familiar with Airflow, Azure Data Factory, Docker, Git, Terraform, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and privacy, especially in public sector.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
