Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Counsellor to lead and advance our counselling services for cancer patients, caregivers, and families.

This role provides clinical leadership, drives service standards, and supports programme development to enhance psychosocial well-being.

Purpose of Job

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for the Counselling Department to deliver high-quality, person-centred psychosocial care for cancer patients, caregivers, and families.
  • Oversee service delivery, strengthen clinical standards, and drive programme development to enhance mental health resilience and well-being in alignment with organisational goals.

Key responsibility areas

Clinical Leadership & Service Excellence

  • Lead and supervise the Counselling team, providing clinical direction, professional guidance, and reflective practice support
  • Oversee case standards, assessment quality, ethical practice, confidentiality, and clinical governance in alignment with organisational policies and professional codes
  • Provide advanced intervention and support for complex or high-risk cases
  • Ensure effective departmental planning, work allocation, workflows, and operational smoothness
  • Oversee accurate and timely case documentation, data management, audits, and compliance requirements
  • Track service outcomes and provide reporting insights to support management discussions, service planning, and programme improvement.

Service Development & Innovation

  • Lead the planning, development, and review of counselling initiatives, group therapy programmes, workshops, and mental health support pathways.
  • Introduce evidence-based practices, service improvements, and client-centric innovations that enhance therapeutic impact and accessibility.
  • Support mental health capability building across the organisation through internal consultations, training, and knowledge sharing.

Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships

  • Strengthen collaboration with hospitals, healthcare professionals, community agencies, and partners to ensure integrated and coordinated patient care.
  • Facilitate referrals, multidisciplinary case discussions, and cross-agency care planning.
  • Represent the department in both internal and external platforms and sector collaborations where required.

Public Education & Advocacy

  • Lead or support public mental health engagement through talks, community outreach, awareness campaigns, and educational content.
  • Promote psychological resilience, mental wellness literacy, and caregiver empowerment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant counselling experience, preferably with oncology, healthcare, community mental health, trauma, grief, and loss exposure.
  • Experience in team leadership, supervision, or programme management preferred.
  • Master Degree in Counselling.
  • Preferably registered with the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC) or other recognised professional counselling body.
