Our client is a well established Shipping Brand. Currently they are looking for a well qualified senior shipping candidate to join them as Senior/ Commercial Manager .
This is a customer-facing role focused on building strong, trusted and long term relationships with customers and partners across key markets.
The primary objectives of the role are to:
- Strengthen customer confidence in the organisation
- Actively engage customers on commercial matters, including pricing and tenders
- Ensure open, two-way information exchange with customers
- Identify growth, expansion, and partnership opportunities
- Represent the company professionally in the market
Key responsibilities :
- Customer Relationship Management (Core Responsibility)
- Develop and maintain strong, trusted relationships with existing customers across assigned markets
- Spend significant time meeting customers locally and overseas, including regular international travel as required
- Act as a key point of contact for customers to understand concerns and expectations, gather feedback on service performance, reinforce confidence in companys reliability and long term commitment
- Ensure customers feel engaged, supported and comfortable working with the company
- Commercial Engagement, Pricing & Tenders (Core Responsibility)
- Market Intelligence & Information Exchange
- Act as a primary commercial interface with customers on pricing discussions, tenders and RFQs, contract renewals and amendments
- Lead and manage customer facing aspects of tender processes
- Work closely with the Commercial and Line Management teams to prepare pricing proposals, align commercial offers with network, capacity and cost considerations
- Ensure pricing and tender discussions are well prepared, consistent, aligned with the companys commercial strategy
- Communicate customer feedback from pricing and tender processes internally to support continuous improvement
- Business Development & Growth Support
- Identify and explore growth and expansion opportunities within existing trades and new markets
- Support commercial discussions relating to new services, market entry opportunities, strategic partnerships and joint ventures
- Contribute to business cases, commercial narratives and customer engagement strategies for expansion initiatives
- Internal Coordination & Customer Advocacy
- Marketing & Brand Representation
- Represent company professionally at customer meetings, industry events, conferences and trade forums
- Support marketing initiatives, presentations and customer communications when required
- Contribute to strengthening the companys brand presence and reputation in the market
- Reporting & Performance Management
- Maintain structured records of customer visits, meetings and key discussion points
- Provide regular updates to Senior Management on customer sentiment, key opportunities, tender activity, market developments
- Contribute to the monitoring of commercial KPIs related to customer engagement , pricing activity and growth
Requirements:
- Minimum Degree in Maritime or Business related discipline
- Minimum 5 to 8 years and above of relevant working experience in container shipping, logistics or related industries preferred
- Possess strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Possess commercial mindset with high customer empathy
- High level of confidence in engaging senior customer stakeholders
- Hands on experience in handling pricing discussions and tenders
- Possess excellent communication and presentation skills
- Proven ability to work cross functionally and managing multiple stakeholders
- Willingness and ability to travel when required
