Role Overview
The Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, monitoring, and controlling technical aspects of cloud and infrastructure projects. This role supports and enhances operational systems to meet contractual Service Level Agreements (SLAs), participates in new system/network setups and upgrades, and ensures stable, secure, and efficient operations across the environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, monitor, and control technical deliverables across cloud, system, and network infrastructure projects.
- Manage or participate in new setups, migrations, and upgrades of system and network infrastructure.
- Support day-to-day operational systems in accordance with contractual SLAs.
- Perform and manage routine preventive maintenance and operational activities promptly and effectively.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues across infrastructure and cloud platforms.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, technical reports, and operational runbooks.
- Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure project objectives and timelines are met.
- Recommend and implement improvements to enhance system performance, reliability, and security.
- Built and maintained an end-to-end observability stack using tools such as Amazon CloudWatch, AWS X-Ray, ELK Stack, and Synthetics, significantly improving monitoring coverage and reducing mean-time-to-resolution (MTTR) for production incidents
- Designed, developed, and managed GitLab CI/CD pipelines with integrated infrastructure drift detection, security validation, and approval gates to ensure secure, compliant, and repeatable deployments
- Deployed and managed container platforms across Amazon ECS (with Fargate) and Kubernetes clusters, implementing auto-scaling, Blue/Green deployment strategies, and zero-downtime release practices
- Orchestrated containerised microservices across multiple environments using GitOps principles, enabling consistent configuration management, automated deployments, and safe rollback mechanisms.
Qualifications & Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Linux operating systems, preferably in virtualised environments.
Hands-on experience with virtualisation technologies and hypervisors experience with Nutanix platform is an advantage.
Knowledge of VPN technologies and firewall appliances.
Working knowledge of network switches and routers.
Familiarity with cloud architectures, hybrid environments, and infrastructure best practices.
