Job Description

Our Brand Marketing Team works with clients to solve business and marketing problems. That means understanding what the business needs to achieve, figuring out what marketing can do about it, building the right brief, bringing the right people together, and staying responsible for the work through delivery.

We are looking for a Brand Executive to manage key client accounts across lifestyle, travel, food and beverage and consumer brands. Our clients include Thermos, Bosch, Garmin, Asahi, Kanebo, Dunkin and others.

You will be the link between our clients and our internal teams. But being the link does not mean forwarding emails between them. You need to understand the client's business, turn that understanding into a useful brief, help shape the strategy, organise the people and resources required, and make sure the final work solves the problem we started with.

A good Brand Executive does not stop caring once the brief has been handed over. If the content is weak, the design misses the brief, the project is falling behind, or the results suggest a change in direction, you should be asking what needs to happen next.

You do not have to execute every part of the work yourself. You do need to understand enough about every part to take responsibility for the whole. One of the most important parts of the job is designing the brief. A good brief makes clear what the business needs, what problem we are solving, who we need to influence, what we want them to do, and what success looks like.

That requires curiosity, better questions, and sometimes the confidence to challenge a client respectfully when the requested output does not solve the actual problem.

What you will be responsible for

  • Managing a portfolio of client accounts and understanding the business behind each one.
  • Building strong working relationships with clients and becoming someone they trust for sound marketing judgement.
  • Understanding client objectives, business pressures, customers and competitors.
  • Creating, planning and helping shape integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Writing clear project and campaign briefs that give internal teams the information and direction they need.
  • Working with Content Strategists, designers, digital teams, social teams, PR, production and other specialists to develop the work.
  • Managing projects from brief through planning, production, launch and review.
  • Reviewing work against the original brief before it reaches the client.
  • Managing schedules, budgets, vendors and other stakeholders required to deliver the work.
  • Running client meetings and keeping clients informed about project progress, decisions and issues.
  • Identifying problems early and taking responsibility for getting them resolved.
  • Publishing, monitoring and analysing content and campaign performance, finding useful insights and developing recommendations for what should happen next.
  • Looking for opportunities to improve the client's marketing or solve problems beyond the immediate task in front of you.
  • Identifying accounts that may be at risk and taking action before the relationship deteriorates.
  • Building practical AI tools, prompt systems and workflows that help with research, briefing, planning, project management, reporting and account intelligence.
  • Using AI to reduce repetitive administrative work so more time can be spent thinking about the client and the work.
  • Applying human judgement to every AI-assisted output. You remain responsible for its accuracy, usefulness and quality.

This role is probably for you if:

  • You are interested in business as much as marketing.
  • When a client asks for something, your first instinct is to understand why they need it.
  • You can take a messy conversation and turn it into a clear brief.
  • You are comfortable moving between client discussions, research, strategy, project planning, creative reviews and performance reports.
  • You care about the final work even when you did not personally create it.
  • You know the difference between keeping a project moving and actually making the project better.
  • You can work with specialists without treating their part of the project as somebody else's problem.
  • You are comfortable questioning an idea, including your own.
  • You are curious about AI and willing to build your own working systems around it. You should be able to experiment with tools, prompts, automations and agents that make you better at understanding accounts, organising information and getting work done.
  • And when something goes wrong, your first question is usually, How do we fix it

Desired skills and experience

  • Around 2 to 4 years of experience in brand marketing, account management, social marketing, digital marketing or a related role, either with an agency or client organisation.
  • Experience working on integrated marketing campaigns across social, digital and other marketing channels.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • The ability to write a clear brief and explain the thinking behind it.
  • Good project management skills and the ability to manage several projects at the same time.
  • A working understanding of current social and digital platforms.
  • Enough commercial curiosity to understand how a client makes money and what marketing is supposed to change.
  • The ability to read campaign results and turn them into useful recommendations.
  • Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or similar platforms.
  • The ability to build useful prompt systems, custom GPTs, automations, agents or lightweight no-code AI tools is an advantage.
  • Proactive and bold with ideas.
  • Plays well with others.
  • Cares about the work.
  • Polite and slow to anger.

What to expect at BRANDTHINK

We are a strategic marketing consultancy based in Kuala Lumpur. Our work starts with the business problem. We look at what the market keeps repeating, what people have learned to ignore, and what a brand can do to become harder to overlook.

We expect our Brand Executives to grow beyond account servicing. You should become better at diagnosing problems, writing briefs, judging work, understanding commercial objectives and advising clients.

The work can be demanding because responsibility here extends beyond your individual task. You will be expected to think about what happens before your part, what happens after it, and whether the entire piece of work makes sense.

Over time, the goal is for you to become someone a client trusts because you understand their business and can help them make better marketing decisions.

Applicants must be Malaysian citizens, permanent residents, or already possess a valid working visa.
