Senior Backend Engineer

We're looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to develop and maintain secure, scalable backend systems supporting mission-critical government digital services.

This is an opportunity for engineers who enjoy going beyond coding taking ownership of backend development, AWS cloud infrastructure, system architecture and production reliability in a highly secure environment.

What You'll Be Doing

• Design, develop and maintain secure, scalable backend applications and REST APIs using Node.js, TypeScript and PostgreSQL.

• Take end-to-end responsibility for backend systems, including architecture, development, deployment, monitoring and production support.

• Build and manage cloud infrastructure using AWS EC2, EKS, VPC and IAM, ensuring system reliability, security and performance.

• Implement Terraform/AWS CDK, CI/CD pipelines, Docker and Kubernetes to automate infrastructure provisioning and application deployment.

• Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, security hardening and troubleshooting to maintain stable, compliant production environments.

What We're Looking For

• 6-7+ years of experience in Backend or Software Engineering, with proven ownership of production-grade applications.

• Strong hands-on backend development experience with Node.js, TypeScript, REST APIs and PostgreSQL.

• Solid experience with AWS cloud infrastructure, particularly EC2, EKS, VPC, IAM, cloud networking and security.

• Proficiency in Linux administration, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform/AWS CDK and CI/CD practices.

• Good understanding of production monitoring, infrastructure automation, security hardening and troubleshooting. Experience in Government Cloud (GCC) or highly regulated environments is an added advantage.
