Senior Backend Engineer (High-Performance Systems)
Overview
We're looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team building scalable, mission-critical transaction platforms.
This role is highly hands-on, with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and system scalability. You'll be solving complex technical challenges, influencing architectural decisions, and contributing to a strong engineering culture.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design and build scalable, cloud-native backend services powering high-volume transaction systems
- Develop clean, maintainable code primarily using C# / .NET Core, alongside another backend language
- Optimise system performance to handle high concurrency and low-latency requirements
- Conduct code reviews and drive engineering best practices and standards
- Investigate and resolve complex production issues to ensure high availability and stability
- Work closely with product and architecture teams to shape technical solutions and system design
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automation, and monitoring improvements
- Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance and knowledge sharing
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience, ideally within high-traffic or transactional environments
- Strong expertise in C# and .NET Core
- Proficiency in at least one additional backend language (Golang, Java, or Python)
- Solid understanding of concurrency, asynchronous programming, and distributed systems
- Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of relational databases (MSSQL) and performance optimisation
- Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced, problem-solving environment
