Job Description

The CME team works closely with the Client Coverage and the Product Specialist teams with the primary objective of supporting their origination activities with professional and efficient execution. The position offers the successful candidate an opportunity to develop his or her credit risk and financial analysis skills, client relationship management skills, and to play a key role in driving superior client outcomes.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for end-to-end process from deal origination to portfolio monitoring, including driving the credit approval process, including credit submissions preparation, employing financial modelling where required and making recommendations on transactions to senior management and Credit. Enabling the documentation process within required time frames and managing the ongoing monitoring of the risk profile and compliance requirements of a client portfolio, ensuring portfolio hygiene is of a good standard.
  • Workflow management between key stakeholders, i.e. Client Coverage, CME, Product Specialists, Credit and client support teams, to achieve a seamless client experience.
  • Be a key support to Client Coverage in identifying new clients, generating value and industry insights and business opportunities.

Success:

  • Ability to produce high quality and accurate work in a timely manner, sometimes under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Portfolio maintenance is first class, including timely reviews before expiry, monitoring of covenants, management of excesses.
  • Willingness to independently follow-up with other teams to clarify or resolve matters that arise around job responsibilities
  • Ability to work independently coupled with good interpersonal and team interaction skills. Willingness to be flexible in support of the team.
  • Exemplary time management and organisational skills

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Credit skills Majority of the credit submission requires no/very limited re-work. Can influence Credit with balanced and rational ideas and make succinct recommendations to Credit.
  • Legal / documentation A good level of familiarity with corporate loan and financial markets documentation (e.g. bilateral/syndicated loan facility agreements, ISDAs and CSAs etc.), and engage with relevant stakeholders on the negotiation and execution of documentation.
  • Liaison with stakeholders - successful in effective engagement with various areas of the Bank in executing and improving outcomes.
  • Portfolio management Take full ownership in running the client portfolio including managing / monitoring annual reviews and commitments expiry dates, facilities covenants and triggers, internal and regulatory reporting, and account activity.

Critical Experiences:

  • Minimum of 5 years of prior experience in working with Institutional Banking clients in an analytical or comparable role.
  • Possess solid credit analysis skills, with prior experience in financial modelling and transaction structuring.
  • Has a good understanding of regulatory and compliance environment in which the bank operates, as well as industry developments and market trends.
  • Strong financial analysis and credit analysis skills.
  • Competent in financial modelling, with medium to advanced excel skills.
  • Sound understanding of debt and financial markets products.
  • Client engagement experience

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary education and qualification in Finance, Business or related discipline
