Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Analyst Nostro Reconciliation to join the project. The role will focus on ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of Nostro reconciliations, while also supporting transformation and process optimization initiatives. Although the team currently uses SmartStream,this is a solution-agnostic role, requiring flexibility to work across reconciliation platforms such as SmartStream, Duco, Intellimatch, or equivalent. The ideal candidate will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), driving issue resolution, strengthening controls, and contributing to operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and oversee daily Nostro reconciliations, ensuring all breaks are promptly identified, investigated, and resolved.
- Monitor exception workflows, escalating aged breaks to the appropriate stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Operations, Treasury, Product Control, IT, and external counterparties to resolve discrepancies.
- Analyze root causes of reconciliation breaks and implement preventive measures to improve control and efficiency.
- Ensure reconciliations comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and audit standards.
- Contribute to automation, optimization, and transformation of reconciliation processes.
- Participate in system configuration, UAT, and deployment of new reconciliation rules.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation, SOPs, and training materials for reconciliation processes.
- Provide coaching, training, and guidance to junior analysts and new team members.
- Support change initiatives, including system migrations, regulatory reporting projects, and process re-engineering.
Skills & Experience
- 36 years of hands-on experience in Nostro or cash reconciliation within financial services.
- Practical expertise with reconciliation platforms such as SmartStream, Duco, Intellimatch, or similar.
- Strong understanding of Nostro accounts, settlements, and cash management workflows.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, data analysis).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, root causes, and solutions.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills across Operations, Finance, and Technology teams.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail.
- Familiarity with industry regulations and control frameworks (SOX, Basel, local regulatory requirements) is an advantage.
