Position Overview

The primary focus of the role will be to create and update real estate market research and intelligence, with a focus on Greater China but with the ambition to grow beyond that. Data preparation, analysis and visualization are critical to this role, as are project and workflow management. Building on an existing foundation of real estate market knowledge, the successful candidate should be ready to embrace a flexible problem-solving approach to deliver practical insights to the team and its stakeholders. The role offers opportunity to learn from senior research specialists as well as direct exposure and close collaboration with the firm's fund management, transactions, and asset management teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Regional Co-Head of Research & Strategy in developing investment strategies, with a primary focus on China with and ambition to expand beyond.
  • Preparation of presentations to investors and to support the marketing of LaSalle's products.
  • Conduct sector/country research and strategy work, including

- Analyze and interpret macroeconomic, financial and property market data

- Maintain and enhance in-house research analytics, explore new predictive tools

- Prepare focused market research reports to support decision making on acquisitions and dispositions

- Identify and monitor short-to-long-term changes and secular trends in capital markets and real estate markets that are relevant to investment strategies.

  • Assist regional strategy products such as target markets, house view, etc.
  • Contribute to global research and strategy projects.

Experience, Qualification and competencies:

  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience in the Asia Pacific region
  • Bachelors or advanced degree in Real Estate, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Urban Geography or another financial-related degree.
  • In-depth knowledge in economics, financial and real estate markets
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate clearly to internal and external clients in English. Knowledge of Mandarin Chinese is preferred.
  • Good understanding of in business / economic environment, government structure and regulations in Mainland China
  • Track record of market research in the context of the investment process of real estate investment firms is preferred
  • A proven aptitude in at least one of the following areas:

o Quantitative real estate methods

o Fair value methodologies,

o Modern data management

  • Detail-oriented with strong commercial and common sense and the ability to plan, organize and lead effectively and independently.
  • Proactive and confident self-starter with a team-centric mentality with strong interpersonal skills.
