THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a high-caliber Senior AI Engineer to architect and build next-generation agentic AI systems and an open AI platform ecosystem.
You will operate at the intersection of distributed systems, LLM reasoning frameworks, and ecosystem design building durable AI infrastructure that developers, enterprises, and partners can extend and depend on.
Beyond technical execution, you will serve as a technical advocate for the platform in the open-source community, helping drive adoption, external contributions, and ecosystem growth. This includes engaging with foundations such as the Apache Software Foundation, Cloud Native Computing Foundation, and SODA Foundation.
This is a senior individual contributor role with architectural ownership and ecosystem impact. Exceptional candidates may be considered for a Lead position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Production-grade multi-agent orchestration systems (planning, tool use, memory, evaluation)
- Scalable LLM pipelines (RAG, fine-tuning, structured reasoning, workflow automation)
- High-performance inference infrastructure with GPU optimization
- Cloud-native AI runtime services on Kubernetes
- Extensible platform layers (APIs, SDKs, plugins) enabling third-party innovation
- Secure, enterprise-ready deployments (SSO, compliance, observability, reliability)
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Master's or PhD in Computer Science, AI/ML, or a related field
- 68 years of experience building complex production systems
- Demonstrated ownership of distributed systems, AI platforms, or developer infrastructure
- Deep hands-on experience with LLM systems (agents, orchestration, RAG, evaluation)
- Strong backend expertise (Python, Go, Rust, or similar)
- Kubernetes and cloud-native systems proficiency
- Experience working with GPU-backed workloads and model serving frameworks
- Ability to advocate, represent, and grow the platform within open-source communities, driving adoption and external contributions
PREFERRED
- Public open-source contributions in AI or cloud-native ecosystems
- Designed systems that other developers depend on
- Experience at hyperscalers, deep-tech startups, or research labs
- Conference talks, technical publications, or visible engineering leadership
