Overview
A globally active energy trading organisation is seeking a Japanese-speaking Accountant to join its high-performing finance team. Operating across physical and financial energy markets, the group brings together an international workforce and offers broad exposure to complex cross-border operations, senior global stakeholders and a dynamic, commercially driven culture. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong finance professional to build depth in a sophisticated trading environment.
Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing monthly and quarterly close and consolidation activities across multiple international entities. You will ensure accurate group and statutory reporting, reconcile accounting results with trading P&L, and support shareholder and group-level reporting requirements. Acting as a key liaison between regional finance teams, external auditors and overseas stakeholders, you will also contribute to process improvements, internal control enhancements and audit coordination, with flexibility to collaborate across time zones and support ad-hoc finance initiatives.
Requirements
The idea candidate has minimum seven years of finance and accounting experience, ideally within commodities or trading environments, with a degree in Accountancy or a relevant professional qualification. Strong technical accounting knowledge, including exposure to derivatives, is highly valued. Native-level or business-fluent Japanese (JLPT N1 or equivalent) is essential due to frequent interaction with Japanese stakeholders. You are best described as a confident and independent, yet highly collaborative professional with strong analytical capabilities, meticulous attention to detail, and hands-on experience working with consolidation systems.
