Job summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions. This role includes reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger, preparing month-end close procedures, and supporting audit and compliance efforts. The ideal candidate has excellent analytical skills, a thorough knowledge of accounting principles, and experience collaborating across departments.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements.
- Prepare budgets and forecasts.
- Analyze financial information to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position.
General Ledger Reconciliation:
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data
- Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll entries
Compliance & Audit:
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, accounting standards, and internal policies
- Coordinate and support internal and external audit processes.
- Prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor inquiries.
Process Improvement & Systems:
- Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance accounting operations.
- Support ERP system upgrades or transitions.
- Automate routine accounting tasks where feasible.
Leadership & Collaboration:
- Support junior accounting staff with guidance and training.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (finance, operations, HR) on financial matters
- Serve as a liaison between external auditors, tax advisors, and internal stakeholders.
Tax:
- Provide tax advisory, manage transfer pricing compliance, and optimize tax positions.
- Evaluate tax implications for M&A activities and secure available tax incentives.
Others:
- Support ad hoc requests from company and headquarters and ensure alignment with corporate goals.
Required Qualification & Skills:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or equivalent professional qualification.
- CPA, ACCA, or CFA certification preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 68 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Proven track record in budgeting, forecasting and strategic financial management
- Experience in multinational corporations or fast-paced industries preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Strong command of financial systems (e.g. SAP, Hyperion similar)
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling.
- Familiarity with IFRS, GAAP, and local tax laws.
Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
