Summary of Job Responsibilities

Members of Marina Bay Sands family and crew of Motor Yacht Paiza One offer contemporary ultra-luxurious service with a strong commitment to create unforgettable memories for our guests and passengers.

The Second Engineer onboard the vessel is keen to support and learn from the chief engineer and reports to the Chief Engineer onboard. This role requires knowledge of safety procedures, strong troubleshooting skills and knowledge of the wide variety of onboard systems. The cleanliness and maintenance of the engine room will also be a key part of this position.

Job Responsibilities

Operational

  • Execute orders and assignments as given by the chief engineer to ensure safe operation of the vessel.
  • Support the chief engineer to achieve ultimate safety for engine room operations.
  • Maintain the yacht's entire engineering operations.
  • Knowledge of all systems onboard engines, generators, fuel polishing, plumbing, water makers, electrical, refrigeration, air conditioning, computers, hydraulics, sanitation, elevators
  • Supervises engine repairs and rehauls.
  • Maintains spare part inventory.
  • Support the chief engineer to conduct pre-voyage inspections for all aspects of safe and successful voyage - Systems / Conditions / Deferred Defects / Restrictions / Limitations.
  • Act quickly and appropriately during environmental changes and emergencies to ensure vessel and passenger safety.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the duties and responsibilities as assigned by the chief engineer or the bridge.

Leadership

  • Maintain professional relationship with crew to ensure the safety, comfort and convenience of passengers

Accounting/IT

  • Update the in yacht planning management software with issues and events.

Compliance

  • Operate all the engine room and systems in accordance with the MBS Lifestyle Pte Ltd and Marina Bays Sands Pte Ltd standard operating procedures, checklists and limitations.

Safety

  • Participates in Emergency Response.
  • Applies operational Risks Aversion
  • Follow Marina Bay Sands Workplace Safety and Health Policy practices.
  • Report any work incidents may include vandalism, fight, fire, abuse, accidents, etc.
  • Observe activities report any suspicious characters, items and/or activities to support team at Marina Bay Sands.

Collaboration

  • Enable and support a culture of communication, collaboration, knowledge, and professional growth to build strong relationships amongst the OneMBS teams.
  • Prioritize his/her own professional development and work with the bosun and second officer to enhance skills sets with respect to leadership, communication, organization, and vessel operations.
  • Work on other ad-hoc initiatives as required in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible days and hours as required by the business.
  • Maintain a healthy work/life balance.
  • Contribute ideas in support of the company vision, mission, value, and guiding principles.

Miscellaneous

  • Practice well-mannered behavior and grooming according to company standards.
  • Attend schedules meetings as required.
  • Active involvement in Sands Care and sustainability programs.
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities as and when assigned by Management.

Job Requirements

Education & Certification

  • STCW 2010 BST
  • Advance Engine Course or higher
  • Engine Resource management
  • Designated Ship Security Duties
  • Valid MPA Medical Examination of Seafarer (Annex B)

Experience

  • Worked with MTU engines
  • Experience with Caterpillar generator
  • 1-2 years experience as an engineer on a yacht

  • Having a good command of spoken and written English.
  • Confident personality with great attitude towards crew
  • Apply risk aversion.
  • Mature, meticulous, resourceful, organized, and able to work independently and under pressure.
  • Strong communication, supervisory and interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain professional appearance ensuring highest levels of services experiences for passengers.
  • Possesses excellent trouble shooting and technical engineering skills as well as thorough knowledge of the wide variety of engineering systems onboard.
  • Ability to remain calm and give directions in an emergency situation.
  • Must be able to travel and enter countries worldwide without restrictions and be eligible to apply for VISAS where these are required.
