We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and highly collaborative Scientific Engagement Director to develop and execute a best-in-class scientific engagement strategy in Asia R&D. This senior role blends scientific credibility, ecosystem-building and operational pragmatism to ensure Asia R&D is prepared - in people, processes and infrastructure - to deliver impact at pace and with scale. You will lead a proactive internal engagement that focus on innovation and impact and externally to build a visible, credible presence that attracts and sustains strategic partnerships to advance science.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement a holistic scientific engagement strategy for Asia R&D that aligns to global priorities, Asia needs, spanning internal and external audiences.
Build and promote a strong narrative about GSK's science, innovation and impact across therapeutic areas, platforms and capabilities in Asia.
Drive internal engagement programs and channels that raise scientific capabilities, encourage cross-functional collaboration, and foster a cohesive sense of purpose (e.g. townhalls, seminars, innovation campaigns).
Design and execute external engagement programs to raise GSK Asia R&D visibility and credibility with academic institutions, biotechs, government and consortia cultivate high-visibility partnerships and networks that raise GSK's scientific profile and attract talent and innovation to the region.
Develop a fit-for-purpose engagement and partnership framework for Asia to move at pace in the evolving, dynamic and vibrant ecosystem.
Serve as a senior representative and spokesperson for Asia R&D at conferences, symposia, partner meetings, and external forums, coach scientific leaders on effective external engagement and communications.
Lead transformation and change management activities to embed the engagement strategy into organisational routines, behaviours and processes across Asia R&D.
Reputation & reach: growth in high-value scientific engagements, invited leadership roles in regional consortia, and positive stakeholder sentiment.
Why you
Advanced scientific degree (PhD, MD/PhD or equivalent) combined with proven experience in scientific communications, engagement, transformation or partnerships.
10-15+ years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech R&D, academic research, science communications experience in Asia-based scientific ecosystem strongly preferred.
Proven track record of development and delivering engagement and change strategies that drove measurable internal culture change and external partnership development
Strong storytelling skills with demonstrated experience translating complex science into clear, audience-appropriate messages and deliverables.
Excellent interpersonal skills, experience building senior stakeholder relationships and influencing cross-functional leaders.
Experience representing an organisation externally at scientific meetings and negotiating partnerships or collaborations.
Demonstrated program and project management skills, including budget and vendor management
